The Asta Academy

Sponsored by the crowned family and led by Headmaster Ti of the Red Sun, the AAF is the official sect of the Nairobi Republic with one branch next to their capital city, . The dream sect of all practitioners in the Nairobi Republic and even some youth in neighboring countries swept away by rumors of the massive wealth of the Nairobi Republic itself. The AAF was founded as a research center in the early days of the Nairobi Republic, studying the effects of minerals on Devi.  In tandem with the many mining operations that streamlined the then kingdom to being the wealthiest country in Avalon, the Nairobi kingdom absorbed the AFF and was the first country to discover the true value of Numina. Since then, the AAF slowly became a place where new practitioner came to learn from veterans how to transform their Devi into thermal energy. Now as an official Academy with a time tested meritocracy that values those with talent and achievement, the AAF has become renowned throughout all of Avalon as the place where one can change their standing in society in the least amount of time. As such, their acceptance standards are known to be especially rigorous. While those already in the class system would find they have a very difficult time rising out of or even leaving their class. Although the AAF places an emphasis on fire based Devi arts, the most important members of their personnel are researchers involved in refining minerals, artifact creation, mineral discovery, and international trade relations towards that end. The royal family's recent welcoming of mermen into their borders although purported as a measure to alleviate coastal border conflicts and welcome cultural diversity is really an plan to explore underwater mining operations. The most famous artifacts have come from the AAF, earning even the newest students of the AAF privileges throughout Nairobi.

Secrets: The royal family, although one of the wealthiest in Avalon have to give the most tribute to the Goa Empire as a result. Students are grouped according to the density and capacity of their aura during the entrance exam, with rumors of students getting in through a back door. They are then grouped into three divisions based on age, level of density and capacity of aura.

This segregation from the get-go encourages a man-eat-man environment where students do whatever it takes to get what they to grow and become more powerful. Promising graduates are promised everlasting wealth, honor, and positions of power within the Nairobi Republic and their embassies across the continent.

This is one of the more luxurious schools of combat based Devi in that even the lesser talented students have access to the resources they need to temper their Devi to the flame and their bodies to withstand higher temperatures. 

Located in the vicinity of a semi-active volcano, students of Asta are continuously exposed to the element of fire and heat alike to speed up their affinity. But because of these conditions and the tall order for physical resistance to fire, many newer students in the lower divisions end up dying. If not dead, a number of alumni have scars and long standing injuries they've decided to keep as a badge of honor.
