During ancient times Kennicott was a copper mine north west of Utah Valley in Salt Lake Valley. After the Great Catastrophe the mine was lost to the feral Vampire Counts. After the crisis of The Lady Cult Norden Reunia realized it could no longer rely on the Dwarven City states for the metal needs. In an attempt to access metal mines of their own Wilhelm Hoffman ordered a colony expedition to seize the old mine and bring it back to it's former glory. 1200 volunteers would make the journey, only 756 would survive the first year.

During the Cult of The Lady Crisis Norden's armies became cut off from metal supplies that normally came from the Dwarven City States. This became an issue in resupplying it's soldiers with new weapons and armor as the fought cultists in Avalon Kingdom and High Elves in the Goblin and Dwarven mountains. After the conflict was over the Norden High Council decided it needed its own source of metal ore. With the Dwarves, Goblins, and High Elves owning all known sources except those in Prussia; a colony outside of Avalon Valley was deemed the only option.

Those humans still alive from before the Great Catastrophe remembered Kennicott mine. After the High Priestess to Artemis confirmed through prayer the old mine held valuable ore the Wilhelm ordered a colony expedition.

Within 2 months 1200 adult volunteers were assembled and supplied and left for Salt Lake Valley. The expedition was led by Captain Tamun Racket a Toren from Norden's Ranger Corp. At first the expedition went well. They made good time to Kennicott and was able to find it deserted. They quickly started building homes and defenses. This construction was noticed by the Vampire Counts who immediately assaulted the colony. This resulted in a 3 month siege that was only broken after the Norden Air Fleet carpet bombed the ruins lining the base of the mine where the Vampires hid.

Currently the Mine does well now that it has a permanent fleet of air ships to run caravans and supplies to and from the city. They are also able to trade with Waterdeep and the Republic of the Rising Sun.
