Second Aryan War

Military action

After the Siege of Luxor most people though they would never see the Aryans in force again. It was expected that the Aryans would be beaten and destroyed by other survivors throughout the west. Little did those in Avalon Valley know the Aryans had survived in California, and were hungry for blood.

The first sign of trouble came in the year 15 AC when Aryan war ships started hunting merchant vessels along the coast. At first Norden and Avalon blamed each other believing the others privateers were simply using deception to attempt to scare their targets into submission. These suspicions nearly led to an all our war between Norden Reunia and Avalon Kingdom.

These raids would continue less frequently for several years. During the Crisis of the Lady they were even able to take control of a Norden village for a month before the Norden Rangers were able to repel them.

During rebuilding after the Crisis of the Lady Norden and Avalon Kingdom put a renewed focus on building up their navies. Unfortunately however this would come too late to save them from invasion.

On Bear 14, 43 AC a Norden fishing vessel was out in the Adveni Sea when they saw a large invasion fleet 3 days away from the coast. Using water magic the vessel was able to reach the city of Camelot and raise the alarm giving the nations 2 days to prepare. Immediately dragon and griffin riders were sent with call to arms and orders to prepare for invasion. The first day the Avalon and Norden navies agreed upon an alliance and set sail to try and stop the invasion. When the navy of 34 ships found the Aryan fleet they found it numbered a couple hundred vessels. Avalonian Admiral James Crasus however still pressed an attack on the Aryan fleet. While the Allied Fleet lost half it vessels it was able to destroy roughly 70 Aryan vessels. Being forced to retreat after fighting for almost 10 hours.

Meanwhile Norden and Avalon Kingdom sent requests to the Dwarves for assistance. Fearing the Aryans would target Prussia first both Norden and Avalon Kingdom asked the Dwarves to send troops there first. When the Dwarves discovered the High Elves were not asked to help they send messengers of their own. The Sun King Jarfa Songheart saw this as an opportunity for the High Elves to gain back trust they had lost during the Crisis of the Lady. Within 1 day the High Elves had mustered a full legion of volunteers. Taking only what they could carry the 51st Legion ran all day to reach the Prussian Border. A falcon reached Berlin with the only request of the legion. "Coming without supplies for speed. Will trade blood for food."

When the High Elven fort Driska (located on the Prussian boarder) learned of the Aryan invasion its Commander opened its doors any refugees from Prussia and shared its food stores with them.

The Aryan fleet did land on the coast near Prussia. At the Prussian boarder they Aryans would meet the 51st Legion. At first the Aryans tried to negotiate with the High Elves believing they Elves were only worried about the security of their own nation. The Aryans were surprised however when their emissary was sent back; tied to his horse and headless. While the High Elves fought hard and were reinforced by Prussian troops they were ultimately forced to retreat.

The Prussian campaign was marked by ambushes and small skirmishes. While the Elven Prussian troops were in a constant state of retreat they did force the Aryans to pay a heavy toll for every mile they conquered. In an attempt to assist Avalon Kingdom and the Norden Reunia kept their own forces back and opened their own boarders to easy attack. The hope was the Aryans would become emboldened by their success and attempt to invade the other two countries. Thus reducing the number of soldiers the Elves and Prussians needed to fight. The Aryans however always weary of such a trap never took the bate.

After 1 week of no invasion Norden General Artemis Fay decided to take maters into her own hand. Leading a strike force of Norden Marines and Avalon Dragon Riders, she attacked the Aryan harbor where it's fleet was docked. When she arrived to find the Aryan fleet missing she rushed her men to attack the Aryan army in the rear. While she was only able to engage the Arayns a couple of times; before being forced to retreat back into Avalon Kingdom she was able to force the Aryans to attack Avalon Kingdom and Norden Reunia. This severely limited the amount of troops the Aryans were able to deploy at any given time. With this advantage the nations of Avalon Valley were able to start regaining ground they had lost.

During this time the Vampire Counts of Salt Valley seeing an opportunity to expand their domain signed an alliance with the Aryans. Soon after their forces would invade Norden Reunia and Suna Garte. This would forced General Artemis who had stayed fighting in Prussia with her Marines to return to Norden. Even the High Elven 51st Legion would be forced to send half its survivors to defend their own homes. This however did have a silver lining. To this point in time the Centaur Heards and Numenai Elves had stayed neutral in the war. Seeing the brutality of the Aryan and Vampire invaders, these peaceful tribes joined the Avalon Alliance. The Centaur Heards aided the Prussians in the South with the Numenai assisted their Elven Brethren in the North. These fierce and fresh troops were just enough to turn the tide of war. Unable to invade all of Avalon the Aryan forces started to buckle and fall back. In the north the Numenai's cannibalism and wild magics sent the Vampires fleeing back into the shadows of their valley.

Once the Aryans were expelled from Avalon a long naval war began. While the Avalon Alliance attempted to invade the Aryan Empire a couple of times they were unsuccessful even with assistance from the Republic of the Rising Sun. This naval war would last 8 years with each side raiding and invading the other multiple times.

The end of the Second Aryan War is somewhat shrouded in mystery. Alliance scouts had discovered another Aryan invasion fleet heading towards Avalon Valley. The scouts reported the fleet had stopped at a strange island that had not appeared on any maps. Admiral James Crasus took his new Alliance fleet and moved to intercept. During the voyage a storm broke the Alliance fleet into several smaller groups. Of the 117 vessels sent only 89 would return. Not only were they not able to find the mysterious island they were unable to find any sign of the Aryan fleet or James Crasus. One surviving vessel stated they had seen the Admiral's flagship the NRS Avenger sailing through the wreckage of several Aryan vessels. The NRS Avenger was a Norden prototype ship designed after the battleships of old world America and could very easily destroyed several Aryan vessels alone. However sight of the NRS Avenger would be lost by Alliance Forces the next day. The vessel that saw the Avenger did state the Avenger was unresponsive to all attempts to communicate with it.

Aryan records show the NRS Avenger did reach the main Aryan ship yard and within 2 days destroyed not only the ships stationed there but also most of the harbors facilities. This attack is what prompted the Aryan Empire to sign a cease fire with the Avalon Alliance that has lasted to this day. In recognition of service to Avalon and ending the war the month Admiral Crasus disappeared was named after him.
