The Orc Trials of Binding

THE TRIALS

1. Randomly, over the course of two respective months, one of the Orcs in the relationship will go missing, ideally leaving no trace behind. The remaining Orc is tasked with finding them, using both their knowledge of hunting and tracking, as well as their knowledge of the missing partner. These two months, called the Man’s Month and the Woman’s Month, respectively, can happen at any time during the year before the Bonding is estimated to take place. The disappearance can happen in any order. Upon success of the first, the second disappearance must happen within six months.

2. The second Trial is the ultimate show of companionship and cooperation, where the couple’s ability to stay calm in the face of tension is put to the test. Starting shortly after the second Trial, the Orc couple must build their first home together, within the time span of two weeks, starting from nothing. They have to find a suitable place to put it and gather the materials. It is essential that they work together, and it is especially essential that they remain calm and don’t lash out at one another, or their loved ones. They may build any kind of home they wish, as long as they can procure space and materials.

*Note: When the home is complete, the Orc couple must leave to stay in their respective family homes. They can still see each other, but they aren’t allowed to see the house until after they are Bound. In celebration of the house’s completion, the parents or guardians of both Orcs will place one major item, such as a bed, table, wardrobe, etc… that was given to them when they first completed their Trials. At this time, the friends and family who are gifting furniture or decorations to the couple will place them in the house.

3.For the third trial the two are tasked with traveling to a nearby set of ruins. Upon their arrival, they set up a camp outside, where they proceed to fast for a full 48 hours. When the 48 hours are up, they venture into the ruins and are immediately entrapped in two separate cages. In each cage is half the clues they need to solve the puzzle to be free. They must communicate with each other about the resources they each have, then work together to find the solution that will ultimately open their cages–which have to be opened at the same time. After they successfully free themselves, they journey home and their families come together to throw a giant feast in celebration of their successful completion of the final trial.
