Tenets of Faith

  • Death is a natural progression.  All physical things decay and die in their time.
  • Until the soul moves on, the body must be treated with care and respect.  Once the soul has moved on, the body is unnecessary and can be discarded.
  • The manipulation of a soul is a horrendous crime that will be met with punishment.
  • While the corpse must be protected until the soul moves on, the soul is the most important part.  The soul is eternal, but during the three days after death it is vulnerable to attack.  Watch and be vigilant so that no one may steal the soul away.
  • The dead are never alone.  There are loved ones left behind when they pass.  See to the needs of the survivors of the dead.  Mourn with them and comfort them.

Holidays

All Hallows' Eve (Harvest - Scorpio - 20) Remembrance Day (Rain - Dragon - 10) Catacomb Carnival (Harvest - Libra - 24)

Mental characteristics

Personal history

Possibly the quietest of the major pantheon deities, Anubis has taken the mantle of being the God of the Dead for the west portion of the former United States of America. He holds great influence in Azteca, where a marriage of ancient cultures has increased fascination with death and the afterlife.

Taboos

Creating revenants is considered the ultimate taboo, and is met with severe punishment.  The reason for this is because of the nature of the soul.  When an individual ascends to the final resurrection, the body and soul will be united as one.  The gods have not spoken on what would happen if the body no longer exists (say the body is incinerated or something of the like), but Anubis has given repeated assurances that the gods will take care of it and to not be troubled over this matter.  However, a revenant is created through the forceful mashing together of multiple souls.  The only way to truly destroy a revenant is by shattering the soul stone in their body.  When a soul stone is shattered, it is believed that the souls are destroyed completely.  They no longer exist, there is no hope of truly resurrecting them.  Because of this, Anubis has no mercy for the creators of revenants.  As for the revenants themselves, Anubis has seemingly extended the hand of mercy towards them.  They did not choose to be created, and therefore should not be held accountable for their state.  However he has made it known that their souls will never be truly resurrected at the last day.

Social

Contacts & Relations

Anubis considers himself an outsider amongst the gods of the major pantheon, but despite this he does have good relations with a few of them.  His strongest relationship however is with another god who has not made their presence known in Avalon Valley.
  • Pluto - The two deities spend a lot of time together because of the domains they oversee.  Anubis guides the souls of the dead to Pluto, where he judges them and protects them in their eternal rest.
  • Quetzalcoatl - being of similar temperament, these two gods are rumored to enjoy each others' company but there is no concrete evidence of any friendship between them.
While many of the other gods have differing opinions on the Fae and those of their plane, Anubis is unbothered by them.  So long as they don't try to cause pain or suffering to the souls of the departed, he is content to let them be.

Social Aptitude

Anubis rarely speaks directly to his followers, but when he does his messages are direct and to-the-point.
