Quori

Quori is an umbrella term for all the fey in the world. Specifically this applies to humanoid fey more than anything else and are known as Quori by the Kalashtar, a race of two minded people.   The Kalashtar are people who have voluntarily fused with Quori. The discovery of this led to the rise of this whole new race. Many families of Kalashtar exist in the world and tend to take after the fey their ancestors fused with. Quickling Kalashtar, faerie Kalashtar, and even blink dog Kalashtar exist.   The most notable Kalashtar family is the Equinox family who fused with an ancient dryad fey, Tara. Tara was the keeper of the tallest tree in Ireland atop the hill of tara and is one of the most powerful fey to exist. The original Kalashtar of tara was a simple human who fell in love with the fey and would visit frequently and protect and care for the grove around the tree. After years of trying to court the fey, she eventually gave in and they became the first fey/human couple. They later became the Equinox family who rule over the Sun Court in conjunction with the Solstice family.   Most Kalashtar families reproduce as if the humanoids reproduced normally but the Quori that lived in the new child was the child of the two Quories that live in the Kalashtar. One of the few exceptions to this is the Equinox family where the spirit is too powerful to inherit a new born child. Instead the child receives a fragment of the Quori and when a family representative is chosen, the previous holder of the Quori relinquishes the fey and it is given to the new representative through an intense ritual that usually causes great physical strain on the new holder of the Quori. After this ritual, the new holder is once again one of the most powerful beings in all of Ireland.

Basic Information

Anatomy

Quori anatomy varies greatly between subtypes but generally all function on a magical basis with a very common ability being short range teleportation.

Genetics and Reproduction

Fey can spawn independently of any outside force or can mate to reproduce making it nigh impossible for them to go extinct

Ecology and Habitats

Fey are pretty codependent on the flora in their vicinity. They rely on the fruit for survival and their entire ecosystem is centered around plant life. This makes it virtually impossible for them to exist naturally outside of Ireland.

Dietary Needs and Habits

Most quori are vegetarian but this changes drastically throughout the fey. Some are carnivorous or omnivorous and some don't require food. Some can even photosynthesize.

Civilization and Culture

Naming Traditions

Many Quori are based off of quori or fey words for plants or sometimes even common words for plant life and other wildlife.

Beauty Ideals

Almost all Quori are superhumanly gorgeous to someone's standard and are known to charm humans and other settlers just by looking at them.

Gender Ideals

Gender is a somewhat fluid thing for quori, they project themselves based on their perceived ideal of themselves and thus tend to portray fairly androgynous.

Relationship Ideals

Quori don't generally court each other, they live their own lives as tricksters and have trouble staying in one place much less with one person.

Average Technological Level

While not the most technologically advanced, many quori are very magically advanced and live off the natural magic of the nature around them.

History

Quori were the first people to live in Ireland. They became the dominant creatures and evolved rapidly due to the strange environment. Eventually these creatures evolved into more humanoid creatures like Eladrin, Shadar Kai, Quicklings, Dryads, hags, etc. They became tricky and protected their land through illusion and bargaining. Far after the Eladrin and the Shadar Kai began, but still before their great war, other humanoids had discovered and settled in Ireland leading to elves, firbolgs, dwarves, etc..
Genetic Descendants
Conservation Status
