Hag

Hags are a strange subrace of fey that has grown in the dark and learned of shadows and occult magics. They are your classic witch character and are the reason why the witch trials began. Known for stealing children and eating strange things like bats and dogs, hags are rather terrifying and have a horribly ugly appearance and personality. This has not deterred many people in Avalon into striking bargains with the witches. Hags are incredibly intelligent and see their own magic as rivaling the gods. Many deals with hags to gain this knowledge will go horribly badly for anyone beside the hag involved and usually result in the compromising of one's morals for their personal enjoyment.
Hags are twisted creatures and want to see the world as twisted as they are themselves. They are known to collect and purposefully disfigure animal pelts and carcasses and sometimes reanimate or taxidermy them. The concept of beauty disgusts them and they see their disfiguring as a gift to the creatures changed.
Part of the reason why hags are so powerful and why their magic can be seen to rival the gods is due to the fact that they exist in covens of three. The reason for this being that hags are very volatile and cannot exist in more or less than groups of three without tearing each other's throats out. Despite this fact, hags are incredibly well connected and arguably very social creatures. Their connections to one another spans their entire species and allows for information exchanges as well as much higher potentials for chaos. These groups of three hags are practitioners of a rare and rarely known school of magic which makes them very terrifying foes.

Basic Information

Anatomy

Hags resemble withered and emaciated crones, with long ragged hair, spotty skin covered in warts and moles, and long and thin fingers tipped with razor-sharp claws. Their teeth are black and their breath is foul.

Biological Traits

Much about the hags are unknown. No one has known a dead hag but also if they can clone themselves and have the vast well of magic they do maybe that's due to eternal life or maybe it really is just a coincidence.

Genetics and Reproduction

Most people have never seen a hag reproduce but it is said the process involves them eating a small child and with the devoured soul, they will birth a new child that looks like a normal child until it reaches the age of 13 when it will transform into an identical version of the hag that birthed it.

Growth Rate & Stages

Supposedly hags don't physically change appearance with age and just get smarter as time goes on. They will always look ugly and old but are also always going to be incredibly intelligent.

Ecology and Habitats

Hags are generally carnivorous and eat blink dogs, giant elk, or children if they can get them. This makes them more fit for the moon court where they can see and hunt in the dark easier.

Social Structure

Social structure of the hags is a difficult thing to pin down. There are definitely some hags more powerful than others but all hags share knowledge and all generally stay in their own little covens and completely ignore the rest of the world so a command structure is non-existent. However usually covens will have one hag that claims the most dominance and two followers. This sometimes will fluctuate but the rule is generally the same.

Supposedly along with their additional magical capabilities from being in a coven, hags are also well known for the making of hags' eyes that were used for advanced scrying.

Beauty Ideals

Hags hate the concept of beauty and will do anything to actively ruin their own. Actively infecting wounds and causing warts and scars across their face are not uncommon.

Gender Ideals

All hags tend to present female and no one has willingly checked to see if they have different types of genitalia. Some suggest they do and many think they reproduce asexually.

Major Language Groups and Dialects

Hags tend to speak to each other in a sort of broken giant where they aren't usually understood by others. This is the closest the hags have to their own language.

What rags a hag wears must always be filthy and torn.

History

Very little is known of hag history and with a lack of permanent structures and a somewhat secluded yet nomadic lifestyle, the hags are basically an enigma in the world. We know they exist and to fear them but much more beyond that is simply speculation.
