The Northern Rite

The far north of Eridas, including the ancient kingdom of Carthdane and the tribal lands that surround it, is the most remote and isolated region of the continent. Ancient practices and traditions are heavily entrenched there, including religious ones. The far north remained a bastion of the Old Faith for hundreds of years after Octarchism had spread across the rest of the Old World. Today, many northerners practice a syncretic fusion of the Old Faith and the new known as the “Northern Rite”. Adherents of this system worship the Eight in a less formalized, more ad-hoc fashion, while continuing to revere the spirits of the natural world as well. The druids of the Old Faith and Octarchist clerics coexist in these communities, however uneasily.
