The Elven Rite
Like the lizardmen, the elves spent much of their early history isolated from other species. This had the effect of producing some unusual quirks in their religious belief system, though unlike the lizards, its most extreme aspects have been tempered by millenia of coexistence with non-elven civilizations.
The elves worship the Eight Divines. However, they also deify their legendary founder hero Anerion the White alongside the big 8, typically treating him as a secondary power rather than a full fledged Divine. Like many deeply traditional societies, the elves practice ancestor worship. Regular offerings are made to the spirits of past generations of elves, and their guidance is sought in times of crisis or indecision. This is more than mere ritual, however. Elven clerics practice a form of sanctified necromancy to evoke the spirits of the ancestors in order to directly communicate with them and receive their counsel. This ghostly consultation plays a key role in everything from day to day life to high level political decision making. This is something of a contentious practice among mainstream Octarchist clergy, who generally consider necromancy to be an unholy art practiced only by disciples of the Archenemy.
Due to the magocratic nature of elven society, the Elven Rite has a much more relaxed attitude towards the practice of arcane magic than the mainstream faith. The Elven church does not enforce the Oath of Sanction or any similar prohibition on arcane spellcasting, permitting the use of even the most questionable forms of sorcery.
