Kingdom of Valeros

The Kingdom of Valeros is the smallest and least populous of the great kingdoms of Eridas. It still proudly counts itself among the three great powers however, and has a history of punching above its weight class, particularly in military affairs. Valeros is located along the Summer Coast south of the Red Mountains, and the outlying islands thereof.
The Valerosi originated as a nation of equestrian warrior nomads dwelling on the Great Steppe east of Eridas. In the 12th Century GR a shifting climate forced them to migrate West in large numbers. The Valerosi nomads proceeded to carve a swathe of destruction and chaos across the continent for several decades, before eventually coming to rest on the Summer Coast. After subjugating the local city states and crushing the elves of New Valra in battle, they crowned themselves overlords of the region and settled down to rule a sedentary kingdom.
The Valerosi may have long ago abandoned the nomadic life of their forefathers, but they have lost none of their martial vigor. They are a proud and fearsome people with a flamboyant and individualistic warrior culture that emphasizes personal courage and conspicuous displays of valor above all else. The Valerosi also have a strong equestrian military tradition, inherited from their nomadic ancestors. Valerosi cavalry and griffonry are legendary throughout the known world. Off the battlefield, Valerosi culture is an eclectic fusion of the fierce honor culture of the steppe, and the freewheeling, life loving culture of the Summer Coast. Their love of wine, music, and romance is matched only by their love of blood and battle. The Valerosi are famous for their flamboyance, panache, and swagger; living fast, fighting well, dying young, and loving every minute of it.
