Kingdom of Oxacalla

The Kingdom of Oxacalla, city of the sun, is the largest and most powerful of the lizard city-kingdoms. The city of Oxacalla itself is perhaps the oldest city in the world, with its earliest foundations dating back over four milenia. After the fall of the ancient empire the city was a deserted ruin for centuries however, only being rebuilt and recolonized in the 15th century GR. In the intervening century the new kingdom of Oxacalla has become a heavyweight in inter-lizard politics. Its immense wealth and strategic position combined with its historical prestige as the former capital of the ancient Lizard Empire have propelled it to a position of pre-eminence among the lizard city states.
The efforts to rebuild and repopulate Oxacalla are still underway. Large sections of the old city remain in ruins and its labyrinthine network of subterranean aqueducts remains largely unmapped. This makes the immortal city a popular destination for adventurers looking to scour the ruined areas of the city in search of treasure.
Oxacalla’s internal politics are highly unstable. Despite the immense age of the city itself, the modern kingdom of Oxacalla is too young to have developed any sort of dynastic legitimacy. The century since the rebuilding of the city has seen several coups, assassinations, and civil wars and half a dozen monarchs.
