Lore 2 - Dragons
The oldest inhabitants of Austera, the dragons have been an integral part of the history of the continent. While not immortal, it is not uncommon for a dragon to live up to one thousand years.
Normally uninvolved with the affairs of Men and Fey, they strive to be neutral in all matters. The Magus teaches that they sided with the Demon Lord when he last returned and should not be trusted; but in 5000 years, fate weighs heavy on the stories and many are interpreted differently based on the historian or bard telling it.
Creatures of they Fey and residents of the Endless Forest are taught from an early age to respect and revere the teachings of the great worms, for they did not betray the continent, but were corrupted by the wispering shadow.
Even in this age, sightings of dragons are rare. They prefer the solitude of mountains, deep caverns, and the depths of the sea; however, they will take care of people and towns that they feel are worthy of their respect.
A smart man thanks the gods if he is lucky enough to see one take flight, and only a fool tries to capture or slay one.
