Corsika
"We are as free as the wind, We shall partake of this world it's mysteries, wonders, and best of all, it's riches" - The Red Queen
Geography
Corsika is a land dominated by its oceans, cover up 80% of the known planet. The lands that exist along side the oceans are typically in an archipelago like formation. There are no continents worthy of the term, the largest landmass being about no larger in area than 250,000 square miles, but rather a large series of islands, dotted between stretches of ocean. However, this lack of land only covers the surface, the world beneath waves is as rich, diverse and interesting as the lands above. Mountains born of coral, deep valley that do not experience the light, and luminescent riches of undersea palaces.
The Rest of the Planet is covered in a deep fog. Those who travel through the fog merely end up on the other side of the known world. If they are lucky, many who go through the fog, never come out.
Ecosystem
Due to being dominated by vast oceans, most creatures on this planet are either fish, or partly amphibious, and this includes the humans who live there. So most creatures that exist here are strong swimmers, as adept on land as they are at sea.
Ecosystem Cycles
Corsika has protracted Summers and Springs, and shortened winters. However, they have must more frequent and longer storm seasons. Having an increased number of Typhoons, Tsunamis, and similar violent aquatic weather problems. When it does rain in Corsika, the rain tends to last much longer than in other places, the thunder being much more violent, and the lightning turning entire islands into glass.
Localized Phenomena
The Deep Fog of Corsika is a terrifying enigma. Seeming transporting those who travel across to other parts of the world. Or just making ships disappear entirely. Leaving most of the rest of the world unknown. Rumor abound as to what causes it. Few claim to have seen what lies beyond, and most of those are liars. The ones who tell the truth? Little more than gibbering, starving wrecks.
Natural Resources
Corsika, being covered in Ocean is most famous for their Sea Food, the most delicious and interesting fish coming from their ocean bounty. The Fish are flash frozen, preserved with spells, so that any may enjoy them. Corsika generates a large number of water and wind essence crystals, the prices are fixed by Royal Decree. This guarantees both the value of each crystal, but also anchors the price in case crystal consumption increases, such as war.
However, the greatest source of Corsika's wealth is their trade expertise. While the Gernikans have formalized the language of trade, the Corsikans have created the Gold Piece Standard, guaranteeing an increased stability in price from planet to planet, while leaving opportunity for profit for the savvy traders.
History
Corsika was the second planet formed at the end of the first Era. The Adherents believed it to have once been an immortal's pond, the locals do not like this interpretation. During the early centuries of the second Era, the Islands were terrorized and ruled by the Sea Elves. Who had dominated the races that on the surface by virtue of one simple advantage. The Elves could target and destroy the settlements of those resisted, while their enemies could not strike back, for their homes were made deep below the surface. For centuries these elves took who and what they wanted, and claimed nigh on half of the planet for themselves. The Elven Kings would use these stolen riches to build Madre Perla, an opulent palace that would make even the masters of the first age green with envy, or so the Kings would claim.
However, their reign would not last forever. The Sea Elves had discovered the largest Island they had ever seen, the Anshir Archipelago, ruled by Santino Anshir a wise, vicious and powerful Wizard King. The Elves, confident as usual in their power had begun to raid on these lands, earning the ire of their leader. The war had been fought for fifteen cycles, the end came when the Elves raided Santa Kalma, the seat of Anshir power. While the Elves failed to kill the King, they had however murdered his beloved husband. The Anger turned into a bone deep hatred. In his rage, he scryed upon their seat of power. Upon finding the Elves, who hadn't even bothered to protect Madre Perla with non detection magic, he sacrificed ten thousand citizens, using their blood and Souls to send a cataclysmic storm. The Storm was of such power, that no depths could have protected them. The Storm destroyed Madra Perla and carved a furrow into the land beneath. Turning the luminescent palace into the blackened abyss. That some would say is still haunted to this day.
The Sea elf empire was crippled with their loss of leadership. But they held their power together, until the Tritons invaded. The Tritons seeing their foes weakened struck while the Sea elves were recovering, unlike the forces of the surface, the Tritons had the ability to follow them into the water depths. The Sea Elf Empire was dealt a deathblow at their hands, while some conclaves of sea elves would remain, and there are a number of would be sea elf princes, rising to re-establish the long dead empire. Their ambitions had ended there.
The End of the Sea Elf Empire, led to the rise of Anshir, who had used the opportunity to conquer their neighbors, and send ships out, seeking to explore the ocean, where it was not safe to do so before. As the Empire Expanded, trade networks were established, the ships carrying massive amounts of wealth. This leads to the current age of piracy, where many vicious sea bandits would see their names and fortunes made in the massive hauls of loot they would uncover from the vulnerable vessels. The most famous Sea Pirate Karmen Santella, a red skinned Tiefling who would be donned the title Red Queen after her ascension to immortality. Making her the second Immortal after Emperor Anshir himself.
Tourism
Corsika is easily the most popular Tourist destination in the solar system.
Most visitors go to Santa Kalma, to look upon and tour the Palacio de Reyes. The Palace where the Emperor holds his council and seats of power. The Tour would take up most of the day, tourist would spend their evenings getting a meal at a famous restaurant, like La Langosta, and get a drink at the Good Place, owned by the Immortal Bard Lazlo. The Following day, they might visit the Aquella, an ancient history museum, or La Collecion, where fish from all parts of Corsika and lands beyond are stored and observed. Vacationing in Santa Kalma is expensive, taking some decades to save up. But the experience is worth it.
Although not as famous, visitors frequent the Isles of Mede, famous for both their wine, and for producing the greatest works of Architecture, Literature, Poetry and plays in the known world.
If neither of the locations draws the interest of a tourist, then the Land of Ten Thoughts will. Ruled by 10 sects of monks, they offer diverse training and opportunities for visitors. Most come here for self improvement rather than lesiure. But the tea in these lands is divine, the contemplative nature of the inhabitants creates a peaceful atmosphere, perfect for those who do not enjoy the hustle and bustle of more crowded environments.
