Arcane Monolith
Across the continent of Angimarr lie various Arcane Monoliths. These monoliths glow with ancient arcane runes and pulse with arcane energies.
Originally created to act as anchor points for the floating cities of the ancient Vrerenth Empire. In the centuries following the Age of Arcaneum they have become infused with the latent magics and "memories" of the past. Should an individual be foolish enough to touch these monoliths they run the risk of allowing these malignant magics to attach themselves to their being.
It is currently unknown how many of these monoliths remain. Additionally they appear to a phase in and out of reality, further reducing the ability to pinpoint how many there are left on the continent.
Purpose / Function
Originally created to act as arcane tethers for the sky cities of the arcane empire of the Age of Arcaneum.
Alterations
In the years following the fall of the Vrerenth Empire, these monoliths became beacons for malignant spirits of arcane practitioners who's actions led to the end of the Age of Arcaneum. Their spirits became entombed within the monoliths allowing them to corrupt and pervert the monoliths from their original purpose. These malignant spirits latch onto an individual's mind as they come in contact with the monoliths, showing memories of events past. Additionally, they seem to be able to attach a piece of themselves to these poor souls who touch the monolith, corrupting them and leading them down the path of the dark arcane practitioners of old.
Defenses
The arcane energies emanating from within the monoliths and more so the malignant presence within can wither a persons vitality away and attack their minds.
Type
