The Crimson Covenant
The Crimson Covenant is a secretive, multi-generational cult that believes Aurelia is a prison—not just for mortals, but for the divine. They think the gods abandoned them, locking away true freedom behind divine laws. They seek to tear open the Veil between the planes to allow demons—creatures of chaos and freedom—to enter Aurelia and bring about what they call The Unbinding, a world free of divine order and moral constraint.
Their Motivation:
The Crimson Covenant believes that demons represent pure, untamed potential—creatures of willpower, hunger, and truth, not bound by the hypocritical morality of gods.
They see demons as misunderstood beings, exiled not for evil, but for being too honest and too free. To the Covenant, the gods are jailers, and demons are the keys. By summoning them, they hope to:
- Destroy the divine influence that stifles mortal ambition
- Break the rules of life, death, and magic
- Create a world ruled by power, not faith
Backstory of the Crimson Covenant:
- Origin: Hundreds of years ago, a prophet named Valexar the Crimson received visions during a planar convergence. He saw a world where mortals had no gods—only their desires and raw magic to guide them. He believed this world could be made real, but only by tearing through the fabric of reality and unleashing what lay beyond.
- Structure: The Covenant is hierarchical, run by a secretive inner circle known as The Heart. Beneath them are the Bloodbound (warlocks, sorcerers, and fanatics), and at the bottom are Vessels, often enslaved or manipulated souls used in rituals.
- Symbols & Rituals: Their symbol is a red circle covered in flames surrounding a six pointed star of red, signifying escape from divine order. They use blood magic, sacrificial rites, and shadowy incantations to weaken the Veil.
