Razorgirl
Razorgirl
In a world dominated by heavy ordnance and clunky mech-suits, Razorgirls represent the terrifying opposite: elegance, silence, and lethal proximity.
Razorgirls (Street Names: "Slicers," "Widowmakers," "Razor Manicures")
"Don't let the cocktail dress fool you, detective. She doesn't carry a purse because she doesn't need a gun. By the time you unholster that blaster on your hip, she’ll have severed your tendons, cracked your firewall, and ordered a drink. They are the ballet dancers of the slaughterhouse."
Definition and Archetype
A Razorgirl is a specialized class of mercenary or enforcer who prioritizes speed, stealth, and melee combat over heavy armor and ballistics. While the term implies gender, "Razorgirl" has evolved into a catch-all slang for this specific combat aesthetic, though the vast majority identify as female.
They are the modern, hyper-violent evolution of the femme fatale. They don't just lure you to your doom; they are the doom.
Signature Augmentations
Unlike "Bricks" (heavily armored tanks), Razorgirls rely on subtlety and burst speed. Their cybernetics are often concealed beneath synthetic RealSkyn to maintain a human silhouette until the moment of attack.
- Subdermal Retractable Blades: The namesake of the class. Most carry 11 cm retractable scalpels housed under the fingernails or long, mono-molecular blades housed in the outer forearms extending past the wrist.
- Sandevistan/Kerenzikov Reflex Boosters: Neural processors that slow down perception of time, allowing them to dodge bullets or close a six-meter gap before a target can blink.
- Myomer Muscle Fibers: Synthetic muscle weaves that look natural but offer 5x the density of human tissue, allowing for inhuman acrobatics and verticality.
- Audio/Visual Dampeners: Implants in the feet that actively cancel the sound of their footsteps, making them virtually silent.
Combat Doctrine
Razorgirls fight in a style known on the street as "The Kinetic Waltz." It is a high-risk, high-reward doctrine.
- Closing the Gap: They cannot trade fire with heavy gunners. They use smoke, stealth, or pure speed to get within arm's reach.
- Precision Strikes: They do not batter defenses; they bypass them. They aim for the gaps in armor—the neck, the armpits, the eyes, or the femoral artery.
- Psychological Warfare: The sound of a monowire whip or the snikt of a blade extending is often enough to cause panic in undisciplined thugs.
Role in the Underworld
Razorgirls fill specific high-priced niches.
The "Molly" Aesthetic
The Glamour: Pop culture romanticizes Razorgirls as sleek, sexy vigilantes in leather, latex and chrome. They are the stars of braindance sims and action flicks.
The Grit: In reality, the life is grueling.
- Maintenance Costs: Keeping blades sharp and reflex boosters tuned is expensive. A Razorgirl who falls behind on payments often has her limbs remotely locked by her Ripperdoc.
- Phantom Pain: Having metal blades housed inside your own bone marrow causes chronic aching, especially in cold or damp weather (which is constant in a noir setting). Many are addicted to narcotic painkillers and Amp Dust to manage the integration lag.
- The "Uncanny Valley": Because they replace so much muscle with synthetic weave to remain slender but strong, their movements can sometimes look unnatural—too smooth, too still—unnerving "normal" people.
Equipment and Accessories
- Chamele-Skin Coats: Trench coats made of optical fabric that shifts color to match the background (poor man's invisibility).
- Monofilament, Razor Wire, Piano Wire Garrotes: Often hidden in a choker necklace or even woven into synthetic hair.
- Mag-Boots: High-heeled boots with magnetic clamps, allowing them to scale the sides of steel buildings or stick landings on moving hover-trains.
