You can cast the awaken spell once without expending a spell slot or consuming material components. When cast this way, it is treated as being under the effects of dominate monster for 30 days. You cannot cast this spell this way again until you finish a long rest. If you cast this spell this way again before the 30 days are over, the effects of dominate monster immediately end on the previous creature.
