CORPSE OF DOCKWORKER DREDGED FROM HARBOUR!
Grisly Cadaver Identified as Reeko Bronx, Orc, 18
Story by J. P. Grindstone
Commotion at Western Dockside yesterday afternoon as dockworkers dredging the harbour discovered the bloodless and disfigured corpse of local Orc Reeko Bronx, entangled in the chains of a damaged and partially corroded loading rig recovered from the waters around a wharf impacted last week’s storm.
Mr Bronx was known to the workers as a frequent sight among the Atramentum dockyards, where he had worked for seven years in various nautical employments as a stevedore, longshoreman and merchant sailor.
One longshoreman, witness to the event, described the appearance of the gruesome discovery – “It were like ‘e had no blood left in ’im; only water. And his body all wrapped in chains like the tendrils of a sea-beast.”
Police Coroner Kalazar Lyme informed the Gazette that such exsanguination is not uncommon when an injured body is left in saltwater for some time, and Mr Bronx had suffered blunt-force impacts to his skull and a puncture to his torso.
The death has been ruled an accident – Mr Bronx is believed to have been operating damaged machinery alone, late at night, and become entangled in the chains when the head of the loading rig snapped – dragged by its weight into the water.
He is survived by his elderly parents, Mr & Mrs Clubber Bronx, formerly of the Merchant Navy. His twin brother Rocko Bronx, also a dockworker and sailor, died previously on a nautical expedition.
