Galatea (Needing Doll)

Galatea is a cursed porcelain doll that Axel Webb stumbled upon when he was about fifteen. After she wouldn't stop hounding him, Axel gifted the doll to the Arkham Caine Museum of the Occult. She now stands ominously looking out of the window of the 'Doll Room' into the street below.

Properties

This cursed doll latches onto creatures when they first interact with her, considering that creature their owner. Abandoning, destroying or even keeping Galatea in an enclosed container, provokes terrible nightmares that function as the Nightmare spell (DC 22). Any attempts to destroy or abandon the doll fail; she appears next to her owner in her original condition the next time they sleep.

Although vindictive, Galatea is also quick to forgive. If the owner treats her well for a day, carrying her openly and maintaining physical contact, the nightmares fade away until the doll feels that she has been mistreated again. Using Break Enchantment or Remove Curse renders Galatea unable to return for 1d4+1 days, though at that point, she returns as usual.
Getting Rid of the Doll: The only certain way to get rid of or destroy the doll (short of Miracle or Wish) is to find someone who accepts her as a gift. If the owner dies, the curse is lifted, and Galatea patiently waits until a new owner finds her, though if the previous owner returns from the dead before that time, the doll returns to their side.
After Axel Webb found himself the unwilling owner of Galatea, he gifted her to the Arkham Caine Museum of the Occult, fulfilling the requirement that she be willingly accepted as a gift. She now belongs to the museum and resides in the 'Doll Room' across the hallway from Day Archivist Whippoorwill Jaykrake's office, because there was no way Axel wanted his office near her after she tormented him with repeated nightmares as a teenager.
