Knight Quinn Tia Gurney (a.k.a. Spitfire)

Spitfire is the ace pilot and secondary sky knight of the 3rd Degree Burners squadron. He's among the best fliers in the Free Atmos, almost rivalling The Dark Ace in skill.

There was a time when he and the Dark Ace had been friends, but that came to an end during an attack that cost the 3rd Degree Burners one of their Sky Knights, and cost Spitfire an eye.

Physical Description

General Physical Condition

Slim, muscular build with long legs. Spitfire has trained in endurance and long-distance running. Missing an eye has caused a lack of depth perception.

Eyepatch with a flame decal and a blue stripe of feathering in the middle of his hair.

Mental characteristics

Personal history

Spitfire was one of the only pilots capable of matching the ace pilot of the Storm Hawks prior to their deaths, and later one of the few non-sky knights to recognise the Dark Ace as Achilles Gryphus. Their friendship with Gryphus affected their judgement in battle, causing them to frequently fail to attack or detain Cyclonia's champion.

This leniency would literally come back to bite them, when, at the age of 21, the 3rd Degree Burners and Nimbus Thunderbirds succeeded in capturing the Dark Ace. Whilst transporting Dark Ace to Atmosia for trial and execution, he escaped, causing numerous injuries. In their attempts to retrieve him, Spitfire got too close and tried appealing to the man's supposed "better nature" through their old friendship. This lapse in judgement caused them to sustain severe bite wounds to the face from Dark Ace, who has been noted to have enlarged, sharp canines capable of puncturing skin. In the following days, Spitfire lost an eye to infected wounds, along with any amiable feelings towards the Talon Champion.

Once recovered, Spitfire underwent the Sky Knight trials and became the Burners' 2nd Sky Knight, with a renewed fervour for battle.
