Baleine Organization in Atlian Subcontinent | World Anvil

Baleine

A human kingdom that borders Styria to the north, Teseana to the east, and itini to the south.   It is ruled by the three claimants of the House Abrasax, Balem (Bah-lem), Kalique, and Titus. The royal line of Baleine, the Percadiums was severed 167 years ago when Queen Gemma Percadium was assassinated. After her death the Abrasax family moved quickly to secure power. Their first move was to purge the Royal Cabal of Baliene. They turned Caine Odinel, a member of the cabal, and he carried out the purge, with the help of Balem's thugs. After that Balem helped Caine set up the Canite Cabal. Balem has divided the realm amongst his brother Titus and his sister Kalique. Balem has claimed the title of Protector of Crown and Flower. He has issued the Great Search - a quest to find the any persons of the royal Percadium line and finally be seated on the Rose throne. As part of this search is the Baliene Reeve, every year 1 citizen from every village is brought to Harrow. Local lore states that they are sent throughout the subcontinent and beyond the great Eastern Ocean in search of the Percadium line. In truth their are devoured by the Abrasax family, who are vampires.   Throughout the nation the Abrasax family owns a number of plantations, so many in fact they are just numbered Estate 1,2,3,4...37.   Titus rules northern Baliene out of Warminster. Kalique focuses on naval operations out of Tarrant. Balem rules Baleine out of Harrow and the country capital of Malm, and the smaller sea port Calne. The Abrasaxians are humans and yet have reached an age ~175 years old.           The Royal Cabal was an organization of mages (dnd Sourcerers) that the royal line of Baliene was breeding. The mages were bound with a Juramento Vow to the royal line. They are sourcers of the Aristocratic Line, although they try to take in more sourcerers.   Juramento Vow:   If either party does not hold up its end of the bargain, it takes a -6 penalty to all ability scores and is sickened until the bargain is fulfilled. When a bargain isn't fulfilled, the wronged party becomes immediately aware of the broken oath and gains a constant awareness of the oathbreaker's distance and direction. This awareness does not extend across the boundaries of planes, but it does relate the information that an oathreaker is not on the same plane. Only death or a wish or miracle spell can end an oath bond before the bargain is fulfilled or negate the penalties that a broken oath bond imposes. When the oath bond is negated by death or magic, the other party becomes aware that the oath was ended or suppressed but not how or where.
