Nixie (Nix-ee)

Nixies are an sapient species native to the seas south of Thume'ad. They are amphibious, through they tend perfer deep trenches over the surface. Apperance wise, they share several traits with both humans and sharks. Having evolved in the deepest reaches of the ocean, all nixie are blind, and completly lack eyes all together. Compared to humans, they are large, lithe, and strong. They are also powerful swimmers, able to easily reach speeds of around 8 mph.

Basic Information

Anatomy

Nixie combine atributes from both humans and deep sea sharks. They are bipedal, standing much taller than humans on averadge. Two large fins extend from their brows, arching back in place of ears. Benth this, they posses two smooth indents indicating the former presence of eyes. Their teeth and nails are sharp, and their digets are webbed. A tail, normaly between 3 to 4 feet long, extends from their lower backs. Their skin and hair are pale, with hints of blue or green visable. Large gills extend between their lower cheecks and their upper chest.

Ecology and Habitats

Nixies are native to deep sea trenches, cold regions with no light. They are hevily adapted to both the cold and the pressure, though their anatomy alows them to adapt to surface conditions.

Dietary Needs and Habits

Nixie are entirly carnivous, surviving on a mix of fish, shellfish, and aquatic mammal. They can digest cooked meat, but they perfer it raw.

Additional Information

Perception and Sensory Capabilities

As a result of the intense darkness present in their habitat, nixie are naturaly blind. In its place, they rely on above adverage hearing, as well as organs known as lateral lines to detect movement. This ablility is less effective when on the surface.
