Laws of Yalverway
This document is a copy of the standard laws and punishments enforced by the Guards of any appointed local within Yalverway. The right to enforce these laws extends to local militia only if called upon by the local counselor into action.
Purpose
These standard laws and penalties are in place to ensure peace and fair justice is held within our lands. The following crimes receive the following punishments:
Theft from an Individual - Twice the value of stolen object paid to the victim. The perpetrator must then serve either 1 week community service or 1 month in stocks.
Theft from a Business - Thrice the value of stolen property paid to victim. The perpetrator must then serve either 1 week community service or 1 month in stocks.
Assault - Fine paid to local power of 5 gold per victim. Repeat offence carries increased fines and imprisonment of up to 1 year.
Assault leading to disability - Fine paid to local power of 50 gold. Recompense paid to victim of 100 gold. If unable to pay then perpetrator must work community service to pay off dept. Repeat offence carried increased fines and imprisonment of up to 10 years.
Manslaughter - Fine paid to family of deceased of 1 year of perpetrator's salary.
Intended Murder - Fine paid to family of half assets of perpetrator and 15 years imprisonment.
Use of Enchantment magic - 1st Offence- Fine of 10 gold per hour (minimum 10 gold) to victim effected. Confiscation of reagents and spell casting materials.
Use of Enchantment magic - 2nd Offence- Fine of 20 gold per hour (minimum 20 gold) to victim effected. Confiscation of reagents and spell casting materials. 1 week Imprisonment for each hour victim effected.
Use of Enchantment magic - 3rd Offence- Severing of hands or removal of tongue to prevent spell casting. Fine of 100 gold per hour (minimum 100 gold) to victim effected. Confiscation of reagents and spell casting materials. 1 year Imprisonment for each hour victim effected.
