Deep Space

It has been said, "you might think a walk to the grocery story is a long distance, but that is nothing compared to the size of Space".   The density of Space is estimated around 2.11 x 10-29kg/m3 which is quite little. There would be nothing to breathe, much less eat and drink in the average place in space. If you were going to a random place in space, and you were mortal (let's say human) there would be absolutely no significant chance that you would be able to survive there. None for all intents and purposes. Space is not a place for you and your type.   That being said, the lucky few humans who live in those insignificantly rare places habitable for human life, well, you know what they do? They dream of traveling to the stars...   ...like it would be so romantic. Some of them actually develop the technology and do just that.   By AD 2100, space flight is commonplace, and in the following few centuries it can be said that humanity cannot be wiped out by a single planet-eater anymore.   The people who do travel in deep space find many wonders that were unreachable by their earlier technology and even imaginations. And they find ways to die which were definitely reachable before.   Crews of Warp Ships capable of warping space and traveling through the warped space as if they had moved faster than the speed of light explore inhabitable planets and uninhabitable regions to uncover new mysteries and sometimes solve them. Warping space requires what scientists refer to as a "buttload" of energy, but it is available if one is willing to pay the price.   Crews of Dimensional Ships sometimes discover alternate dimensions where the universe did not expand quite as fast, almost the same, but just slightly slower. Flipping out to such a dimension, assuming the ship and passengers survive, then allows a ship to travel a short distance before flipping back to a very far distance from their starting point in their home dimension. Again, the ship can appear to travel faster than the speed of change in the universe.   ===
A butt is an amount of liquid equivalent to two hogsheads.
A heavy cart (a butt), can safely carry 6 seams, or 48 bushels, or 384 gallons of material, presumably liquor.
