Halfkin

Some say the Halfkin are so named because they are part Human and part Fey, but others attribute it to the fact that they stand about half the height of most other races. Their culture has always been closely associated with Humans, often living among them, though they also maintain their own villages of small cottages unparalleled in craftsmanship. Halfkin are well known for their great skill, and have a long tradition as the world's foremost inventors and innovators. They are generally friendly and gregarious, and prefer to be on good terms with whomever they encounter.

Anatomy

Halfkin strongly resemble smaller versions of Humans, but with generally finer features and subtly pointed ears. They inhabit almost all reaches of Athalion, and their appearance is similarly as diverse as their Human kin. They are quick and nimble, with a high metabolism that keeps them thin, though those whose skills lie in the culinary arts may grow stout as a sign of their prowess.

Growth Rate & Stages

Halfkin have a life cycle very much like their Human cousins, achieving full maturity at around age 20 and gradually reaching old age by the age of 80 or 90.

Geographic Origin and Distribution

Though they are equally happy to co-exist among their Human neighbors, the Halfkins' true homeland is the far eastern end of Caradon , where they weather the long winters in their cozy, well-insulated homes.

Halfkin are not typically adventurous, preferring the comfort of their homes and workshops. They try to maintain friendly relations with the other races, though they are often seen as soft and weak by the Orcai and Varg. Their main adversaries are the sea peoples of the islands off Caradon, who constantly raid their homeland.
