Orcai

Lords of the Great Plains

Like their distant cousins the Eldren and Elani, the Orcai are closely related to the Fey, diverging millennia ago into a unique species. Masters of the vast western plains, their horsemanship is unmatched, and their nomadic tribes roam unchallenged across the grasslands. They value loyalty to their family unit, but show no mercy to their rivals. Together, these qualities make them highly trusted to their friends, but feared and often shunned by strangers.

Basic Information

Anatomy

Orcai are large and imposing, with reddish brown skin weathered from a lifetime of exposure to the harsh sun. Their hair is almost invariably black, and worn in elaborate braided styles, and their wide almond eyes are similarly dark in color. Like the Elani , their ears are pointed, but they have a large, heavy jaw and square features that distinguish them from that more graceful race. Orcai's builds vary from thin and sinewy to quite stout, but they are all generally possessed of great strength and endurance.

Growth Rate & Stages

Orcai develop quickly, attaining full maturity by age 12. They age at an equally accelerated rate, reaching old age by 60 and rarely living past 80.

Geographic Origin and Distribution

The nomadic Orcais' home range is collectively known as the Vannari Lands , and stretches across the Plains of Adar in central Valdaria.

Common Myths and Legends

Orcai are animists, and honor the spiritual aspects of the natural world. They favor no particular deity, but rather see them all as a part of the greater whole, a concept which they call the Way.

Interspecies Relations and Assumptions

Orcai give little thought to the other civilized races, preferring to judge each individual on his own prowess rather than engage in broader politics. They are, however, sworn enemies of the Gnolls who threaten their homelands, and have honed their martial skills over centuries of conflict with them.
