Silver silk

Silver silk or also known as the fabric of Queens is created from the Keek plant. This fabric is highly sought for by the elite of Atera.

Here are the pros of the fabric Silver silk. It is resistant to mold, anti-bacterial , stain and fire resistant.

Silver silk has a natural slight stretch, and is the strongest fabric from plant fiber. In fact it becomes stronger when it is wet.

Now the cons of the fabric Silver silk. It does not take dye and only comes in two colors off-white and green, both colors have an undertone of silver. When wet it becomes translucent and loses its elasticity. Which means if stretched while wet it will stay that way. It also smells like swamp when wet.

However, Silver silk is very soft, while also being strong. Sliver silk is one of the only fiber that can be spun extra thin without losing its strength. This very thin thread can then be woven into a very light and delicate fabric that is opaque. It also can be spun into a normal thickness thread to create a little heavier fabric.

Now some say that it that Silver silk floats instead of hanging. Many seamstress refuse to work with Silver silk as it is difficult to control. Those seamstresses that do, specialize in just creating clothing from the Silver silk.

Silver silk is from the Keek plant. There are two varieties of the plant that create the desired fibers and they are called the Silver leaf Keek or the Sweet silk Keek. Both have the same proprieties except for the Sweet silk variety, when wet smells like a sweet swamp and is a darker green than the Silver silk. While the Keek plant can be found all over Atera in swamps. It is a not often one finds the Sliver leaf or Sweet silk. On Jiazera those two varieties of Keek are only found in the Northeast. There are only two farms that grow it. Also there is a select few that know the actual process of harvesting the plant and getting the fibers. There have been laws put into place by the elite to keep Sliver Silk to themselves.
