Kasius Darkshround

Kasius Darkshroud was an infamous archmage and necromancer formerly of the Mitican Imperium, who was most famous for waging a ten-year war against the Imperium through the use of an immense undead army. His decade-long reign of terror was eventually toppled when the Order of the Doleful Aspect joined the war against him.
As a dark elf, Kasius' early years were spent in servitude near the bottom of the strict Mitican caste system. As a youth, he was a household servant to Olristh Vaun, a high-ranking member of the Mitican Synod. His natural aptitude for magic was noticed and nurtured by his master, and Kasius soon proved himself a progidy. During the War of Waking Flame Kasius proved himself a formidable spellsword, and in the aftermath was officially adopted by Magister Vaun after saving the latter's life in battle.
Over time Kasius worked his way into the Synod himself, where he began working on his life's project: the creation of Bloodrune Magic, which created temporary leylines from the lifeforce of living beings. Kasius intended this as a way for Mitican soldiers to circumvent the Obviation in a potential war against Räsgard, but was labeled a warmonger and madman, and was stripped of rank and cast out of the Synod.
For the next several years, Kasius disappeared from historical record until he emerged six years later at the head of an undead army and began to lay waste to the Vanalian Coast. For the next ten years his self-proclaimed Darkshround Empire waged war against the Imperium, heavily utilizing a system of bloodrune teleportation circles which allowed his forces to rapidly move throughout his domain. Alongside his second-in-command Harkos Batrova, Kasius chipped away at the Imperium's forces for a decade, ruling over his conquered territories with an iron fist.
His reign of terror began to collapse due to the assistance of the Order of the Doleful Aspect, whose knights helped to turn the tide of war for the Mitican Imperium. Kasius was eventually killed in a final push against his seat of power on an atoll in the Achinad Sea, and the secrets of his bloodrune magic was lost with him.
