Nulb
Dark and disgusting, the deserted hamlet next to the Imeryds Run seems a direct counterpoint to lovely Hommlet. The structures are made of sod, mud bricks, crude logs, or used timber—probably taken from boats or other buildings. Many of them are collapsed. All are overgrown with vegetation, the woods swallowing up the filthy, foul place as if it never existed.
Nulb was a disreputable settlement that grew along with the Temple of Elemental Evil. While not every villager was thoroughly evil, Nulb’s livelihood was. The village thrived on traffic to and from the temple, supplying needed goods and services. It was a nasty, unseemly business.
With the second fall of the Temple of Elemental Evil, Nulb’s trade quickly dried up. Almost overnight, the populace left behind this ghost town of ramshackle buildings.
No matter the time of year, it is always windy and overcast (01–50 on d%) or raining/sleeting (51–100) in the ruins of Nulb. The sun never seems to shine here.History
Nulb developed as a village with the building of the nearby temple in the mid to late 4000-4100s M.E..
The village was filthy, ramshackle, and still fairly active between 4086 M.E. and 4100 M.E. despite the (essential) destruction of the Temple in 4089 M.E. after the Battle of Emridy Meadows. The buildings were of turf, mud brick, crudely hewn logs, and old timbers from boats. One or two had stone foundations and proper boards, but even these were in need of repair. The inhabitants of the village were boatmen, fishers, herdsmen, farmers, and the like. It was apparent that no one managed to make much of a (at least honest) living in Nulb, and as it was such a poor place, it was generally ignored by lords and bandits alike.
A small amount of commerce moved along the High or Old Road from Hommlet, as well as into Nulb from the Velverdyva river, as Imeryds Run is wide and deep enough for small river vessels to use for offloading cargo and likewise embarking it from Nulb, north of the ford there. Most travelers preferred to take the longer, and safer route, along the New or Low Road from Hommlet.
In 4009 CY the village was supporting two river pirate vessels, and also the Temple was being rebuilt. Agents from Hommlet were monitoring the Temple from Nulb, masquerading as inhabitants.
Following the destruction of the Temple properly in 4101 SE, the village was abandoned, and by 4113 SE (with the events of Return to the Temple of Elemental Evil), the village was only inhabited by a scarred Lareth.
