Changeling

Changelings are a humanoid race that are genetic descendants from doppelganger  and share their shapeshifting qualities. The race was created by academics, marines, and wizards of Carcino's most secretive organizations. The race was created for their shapeshifting abilities to be used as spies and assassins, which has, in turn, led to the race being mistrusted amongst the people of Asyur once the race was made public knowledge in an event known as 'The Broken Mask' in Carcino's academic circles.
Some of the changelings were able to start families, either through secrecy or some other means, but because of this, there is an unknown number of changelings in the world. Not every child from a changeling and a human will result in a changeling, sometimes it results in a human, and other times a gross mutated human, closely resembling a ghoul. Because of this ghoulish resemblance, and the not-so-public knowledge of doppelgangers, many common folks believe changelings are actually a genetic descendant of Ghouls, who have taken human babies and replaced them with children of their own.
