Camazotz is the ancient Veluntian god of bats and evil. She was feared by both the ancient humanoid civilizations and the draconic ones alike. To the humanoids the deity took on a more masculane form that they called Zotzilaha and was a god of blood and death. Her symbol is that of a giant bat.
Like most deities of the ancient humanoids Camazotz was a dual-aspect god, with the femanine Camazotz being the benign preditor of harmful insects, and the masculine Zotzilaha the blood god of the underworld.
In all reality, Camazotz is nothing more than a common Popobawa from the Abyss that the Olman peoples propped up to godhood upon their discovery of the being.

Holy Prayers

While many now adays attribute vamparism to a divine curse, it is in fact a supernatural disease created by hags. Zotzilaha, however, may very well be the first deity to claim the disease as their own.
Prayers to Zotzilaha are always preceded by several ritualistic sacrifices that are extremely bloody, often the sacrifice has their skin flayed and their heart removed in such a speed that they were often still alive for several minutes in excruciating agony.

Holy Rites

Sacrifices were not just common, but manditory. Her followers often remove parts of the body in ways to maximize spilt blood while drums and fire chants are performed by the attending.

Lunar Sacrifice

Every time Luna reaches its quarter phase, the public is forced to watch as priests of Camazotz sacrifice insects (often using insect plague spells) to appease their deity.

Clergy

Priests of Camazotz delight in inspiring terror, though they also play a role protecting people from crop-destroying insects. They sometimes kidnap and sacrifice political enemies under the cover of darkness. They wear leather helms and leather armor. Their color is saffron.

Olman Priesthood of Zotzilaha

As with most Olman priests, priests of Camazotz must choose a direction to pray to at the beginning of their careers. Clerics of the east wear red, clerics of the south wear yellow, clerics of the west wear black, and clerics of the north wear white.

Temples

Camazotz is worshipped in temples and caves, which may be guarded by bats, vampires, or creatures of the Elemental Plane of Water such as nereids and water weirds.
