Whisper Root seeds

There is a commonly held folk believe that eating the seeds of the Whisper Root plant can make you a better climber.

The seeds

When the shiny fruits of the whisper root have become ripe they will begin to shine like orbs of light, after which an curious bird will pick them up and drag them to their nests. The young will then eat the fruit and leave behind the seeds which later, after the fledglings leave the nest for good, use the nesting material and bird waste to germinate. Once the plant starts to properly germinate it becomes extremely bitter and uneatable so it is only during the period that the chicks still live in the nest that an eatable seed can be harvested from a nest.

Booming Business

Many mothers who want their little darlings to become powerful athletes seek out whisper root seeds because of this commonly held believe. This has caused the international trade to explode. Many poor people risk their life everyday by climbing the tall cliffs on which birds nest in an attempt to acquire these seeds. This is not only dangerous to themselves, but has also caused great damage to the whisper root population who now don't get the chance to develop themselves into adult plants and the local bird populations who's nests get disturbed by the hands of fortune seekers.

The truth behind the tale

The most ironic part about this believe is that, while the seeds are full of proteins and calories, you actually only become a better climber from climbing up the cliffs and gathering the seeds from the nests yourself. The seeds are more of a reward for one's hard work rather than some wonder food. Only the man actually hunting down the seeds become better athletes from the seeds, but this just proves to most commoners how great the seeds must work.
