Legolsian Guard

The Legolsian Guard is an elite infantry unit serving as specialised shock troops in the Dwarven Imperium. Its members serve as the personal bodyguards and intelligence of the dwarven Kaiser. The word Legolsus means Elf in Dwarvish, and the guard is exists exclusively out of elven soldiers.   A potential recruit must be an unmarried man between 20 to 60 years old. However despite these strict rules the race of elf themself is of no important for the recruitment and the Legolsian guard is considered to be one of the most progressive organisations in the field of elven equality. Moon and Sun elves who have served together as guardsman often consider each other as brothers instead of master and subject.

Composition

Tactics

The Legolsian guard uses three units: The Securi, the Sagittari, and the Magi. The front lines are manned by the Securi. Elves with two handed axes and round shields who are masters in dodging and controlling the movement of their enemies. This makes it so despite how strong their enemy might be, the still cant move past the line of Securi. In the rare cases that an enemy manages to get a attack in on the elf an layer of dwarven steel ring armour will make sure that the Securi does not get hurt.   Behind the securis stands the Sagittari, who are the arches of the Legolsian guard. The Sagattari use special sun elven tactics to hide their arrows by the flare of the blazing sun, delivering a folly of arrows before their enemies can notice that anything is coming and raise their shields. The arrows of the of Sagattari are covered in a layer of silver to make them extra shiny and blinding which makes it such that their silluetes can't easily be identified against the sky.   Lastly are the Magi, who support the other two division with magic. Their spell are often designed to either influence the battle field, trap enemies, or slaughter the enemy en masse.

History

When the Imperium reached the northern coast of Astronasia they came into contact with the kingdom of Al-Roc. The Al-Rocian king of the time, Ceri III, saw that war was inevitable and made a deal with the Kaiser. Al-Roc would become a tributary kingdom of the Imperium in exchange for high levels of autonomy. The tribute was to be paid with the sons of royal families who would serve in the imperial army until their 60th birthday or until they inherited a royal title. The kaiser accepted this offer and from this the first generation of Legolsian guardsman was born as a auxiliary forces for the main empire. Although these man were send as tribute they still earned a soldiers salaries and were treated quite well by dwarven standards. Those elves who returned home came with stories of their great deeds while part of the guard, which amazed and inspired the population of Al-Roc. Quickly the Legolsian guard become folk heroes and mothers began to raise their children with stories about how one day they could become as heroic as the guards.   When the Imperium collapsed during the Troigh Leud, it were the Legolsian guards who protected the Kaiser as he escaped to the city of Tyria Rupes. As reward for their service the kaiser himself promoted their entire unit to his own personal army and creating the second generation of the Legolsian Guard. However Al-Roc quickly took notice of the diminished influence of the Imperium and stopped sending their sons as tribute. However now more than enough elves had grown up with the stories of the Legolsian heroes that an entire generation was ready to join the guard and as such the Imperium decided to continue the guard with the new hired as an elite unit.
