Kraken

Kraken are a quasi-sapient species that exists across most of known space. They look like a cross between a gigantic octopus or squid, and have tentacles that are known to grow up to a kilometer in length. Kraken are territorial and malevolent creatures, with no known exceptions to this being recorded, and as such are treated as hazards by most polities.

Kraken have immense strength and toughness, as well as an innate magical connection to water which allows them to move far more quickly than their bulk would suggest. They usually have a powerful ability to control the weather, and when in battle they are usually surrounded by thunderstorms, tornadoes, and other weather hazards. The aquana in particular are sworn enemies of kraken, and attempt to exterminate them on any world they inhabit.

For all their strength, Krakens aren’t terribly bright and will kill each other almost as happily as they’ll kill other species.
