Ruin - Carrion Lord
The Carrion Lord is an atavistic entity of flesh, bones and corrupted thoughts which was first sighted during the Starfire Era's middle point within the depths of the Triangulum galaxy. Also known by the Futara Dragons as "The Yellow Eye" and to the denizens of the Milky Way galaxy as "The Ruin". Unlike its shattered and spread out state during the current Era, the Carrion Lord used to have a more complete form akin to a titanic, cardinal-colored worm with an uncountable amount of appendages with varying sizes (tentacles, arms, fleshy wings,...).
The sheer amount of biomass and writhing flesh made it look out of this world and downright beyond the mind of most sapient species, which ended up working in pair with its tremendous psychic influence that used to be much stronger than what the current Era's Ruin has.
Aside from the location of where it was first spotted, nothing is known of the Ruin's origins and by what means it propagated so quickly across the entire Virgo Supercluster and beyond during the Starfire Era. However, while this entity was feared, it eventually was felled by another being called the Cultivator, a gargantuan humanoid machine of science and magic engineered by the Archos and the Centens as the peak of Centen-Archos relations.
Prior to it being felled, the Carrion Lord expanded its reach exponentially through manipulation and mental corruption, leading to the formation of cults and overall ideologies worshipping it. Thus, the Carrion Lord obtained armed groups and small armies for itself, using them to spread its influence and fight back against the intelligent races of yore. The sudden arrival of the Ruin and the brutal attacks from its followers brought both the Archos Continuum and the Hegin Technocracy to their knees as the two super-empires were forced to use weapons and policies so devastating that many Quadrants across countless galaxies were left near lifeless, one of them being Quadrant Moreta.
Such devastation only put the Carrion Lord into a state of hibernation and did not clear the threat of assimilation, as such, the Archos went and made DNA blueprints to create the perfect Anti-Ruin races to prepare the universe for when the Ruin comes back in full force, one being the Draconis and the other being the Futara Dragons. Those blueprints would end up being used during the Old Magic Era to take down the Carrion Lord by the Cultivator which followed the parameters and orders left behind by its creators after they left to another universe.
In today's time, the Ruin remains an ever-growing threat which resurfaced a couple of hundreds of years prior (A small time in comparison to the overall timeline of the Milky Way) under a new guise. Indeed, for the Cultivator unfortunately did not erase the Ruin's existence even after shattering it on the atomic level. Some remaining biomass of the Ruin survived, allowing it to grow and spread once more in a more covert manner. As such, the Milky Way and many other galaxies are now infested with Atropus worlds, entire planets completely taken over by the Ruin's biomass and acting as safe havens for the Ruin's influence to eventually evolve into what came to be known as the Ruin Hivemind which was studied in depth by Dr. Iver Rivt in his thesis labelled "The Inner Workings of the Ruinous Mind".
