I - Cyclopean Sanctuaries

“Cyclopean Sanctuaries” or C.S is the name given to the anomalous spires and temples found across the Moreta Quadrant. These structures all seem to be made of the same dark green-ish material and all possess the ability to shift places under certain conditions unconfirmed as of yet. Currently, their origins remain a mystery, but it is believed that they at some point interacted with the Precursors. Indeed, several of the C.S appear to have been damaged, not by time, but by massive weapons leaving burn marks and holes all over them.     Of course, it is but a theory. However, if it is somehow correct, it may leave us with more questions than answers. What species made these structures ? What power allows them to shift from planet to planet ? If the Precursors and the species behind the C.S really fought, then did they annihilate one another ? So many questions left unanswered due to the inability to enter the C.S or even get a good read of them. Strangely, the C.S possess a sort of “invisible shielding” that acts like a scrambler, essentially messing with cameras and any other recording tool, it’s almost as if they do not really exist…     In recent years, the newly formed Mega-Corporation Varkain Labs. has tried to verify if the C.S had anything to do with magic or if any slight traces of mana could be detected upon the structures. The results showed that whatever was happening with the sanctuaries was not related to magic whatsoever. Varkain Labs. tried to crack the meaning behind this enigma and are still trying to this day, but most of their focus went back to the Unima Quadrant, leaving the C.S almost unattended. Groups of scientists; engineers and mages were left in orbit of planets lodging the C.S in order to observe their movements.     After a couple of weeks however, the people that were assigned to survey the C.S soon started to show symptoms of dementia and schizophrenia. At first, these reports were simply ignored and associated with other explanations, but as the cases piled up, Varkain Labs. had to do something to avoid getting the ire of the public. Therefore, they replaced most survey teams with robots, though some individuals insisted on staying with the machines. Varkain allowed them to stay under the condition that they must send reports every single Terran day in order to avoid a disaster.     The reason for those cases of “madness-inducing sanctuaries” is still being talked about to this day between researchers. Leads and progress on this issue have yet to be discovered.
