General Summary

Hi! I'm Arla, nice to meet you! My friend over here's Zayle, and he's my best friend in the world. We left home recently and, well he's been a little quiet for a bit so I decided to write up a journal of some kind. Just to keep me interested, maybe someday I'll learn to speak and tell everyone about our adventures. After a bit of travel, we got a little village way south on Eatheron called Stayneras. Folks here seem nice, at least so far they haven't been rude. It was a long day though, I'm gonna go get some rest.
Hexales 21st, 736.
We went down to breakfast today, and there were a lot more people here than we thought! If I can remember how to count, there were 3 humans, a Tiefling, an Aarakocra, and an Air Genasi. Sounds like an overcomplicated bar joke, but they seemed alright. One of them, I think his name was Alfredo, didn't wake up so the Air Genasi, Krystal, went upstairs to get him... although it sounded like the door fell, and I'm not sure if the window broke as well. I was too busy looking at Zayle's glass of iced orange juice to find out, I dunno.
A big festival was gonna happen today, something about the Harvest's Birth they said. Obe ran over to a lady to help her stand get set up, and Krystal chatted up Alfredo about needing help with something? I'm sure it's no big deal. Adolfo was there too, he side bumped into Krystal though. Little bit rude, but meh. After the fact, Adolfo won an arrow shooting contest and got some cash out of it, so that was sweet. Wonkey hit up Amber since he found out that she had single-handedly taken down serial killer and infamous criminal Jaelynn Ray.
The village was supposed to be celebrating by now but there was a noticeably lower headcount than usual. Turns out some miners went missing in the newly formed mineshaft and little barn boy Timmy disappeared when he was supposed to go check on them again. The 7 newcomers reluctantly joined forces and ventured down to investigate the situation. Along the way, we saw some petrified people and we eventually found an end to the tunnel, where a large Basilisk was resting. Roll Initiative.
Contributions to the fight ranged from aviary unarmed strikes, a flailing mechanical arm that failed to find purchase on Acid Spray, an annoying blast of sound from Thaumaturgy, an arrow that pierced the monster's hide, a feeble blast of eldritch energy, and a heavy greatsword that couldn't hit the beast. Wonkey began to turn to stone for a moment and we got a little worried. HDYWTDT But Zayle came to the rescue and sliced the monster's stomach with his sickle. Among the loot found there were a number of precious gems, some spare gold, potions of healing, and a very strange-looking orb. The Flaming Orb of Khaelos.
Upon resurfacing, the party was celebrated on their victory, drinks were served, toasts were made, and eventually, we all stumbled to rooms. Alfredo almost got hurt again thanks to Krystal, but it was a little funny. Some of us even decided to sleep on the roof, including Obe. And thus was the beginning of a weird and wonderful adventure. /A
