Shifters

Name: Shifters
Deity: several, dependent upon what type of shifter
Lifespan: 80-100 years
Procreation: Sexual reproduction, biting
Organization: Again, dependent upon what type of shifter. Wolf shifters have packs, cat shifters have prides, etc.
Language: No
Appearance: Not in human form. Depending upon what type of shifter, in their animal form, yes.
Strengths:

• In human form, they have heightened senses (smell, hearing, sight, etc.)
• In shifted form, they have all the strengths of their animal
• Stronger and more durable than the average human
• 3 forms: human, human-animal hybrid, animal
• (Shifters only) can change animal forms at will, but they are limited to animals within the same genus

Weaknesses:

• Weak to silver-- contact will produce a rash, punctures will be harder to heal
• Can be more bestial in nature
• Not shifting frequentlye nough can make them sick -- at least a few times a week is recommended for health. 

History: Once the bulk of the Marēn army, shifters are one of the more dominant species.  There used to be weres, but due to heavy breeding with others, weres are a thing of the past, and shifters now dominate. 
One of the largest packs remains the Phaea's forest pack, that is predominantly wolves with a few other interdependent species. 
Societal norms/mores: Depending on the shifter, they may have certain norms. Wolf shifters tend to travel in packs; cat shifters, particularly lions, tend to be polygamous, with many women around a single man.
