Lich Lichen

Lich lichen is a magic affliction to people who fail to manipulate necrotic power.

The first stage is dry skin, which soon develops into pale and lifeless skin. The second stage makes the afflicted no longer feel hungry and their body quickly becomes emaciated. The third stage varies based on environment, in dry, arid areas the person remains mostly intact, resembling jerky, but in wet or humid areas they will continue decaying until most of their body is drained of all it's nutrients and becomes a shriveled hollow shell. The process, albeit horrifying, is physically nonlethal, but socially you'll be outcast for being an undead. There's also very little mental change, though most that go through the change have a sudden increase in bravery due to being more resilient than a normal person.

An added bonus of becoming an undead this way is that your body is now affected by spells like mending, so if your arm gets cut off, a simple mending spell will reattach it.
