The Queen of Exploration, unable to explore

Queen of Exploration Tr*!ee

Tr*!ee is the S*la'vn Queen of exploration. She is a fourth generation Ashvaaryan Queen, one of the experimental generation, bred with previously underdeveloped S*la'vn traits enhanced. In the case of Tr*!ee, that trait was the desire to explore and understand world.

Physical Description

Body Features

Tr*!ee, like all Queens of her generation, were designed by their mothers to be far smaller and more mobile than any Queen before them. Assumed to be due to the presence of navitaas in their systems, and the unusual effects that magic had on some species not native to Ashvaarya, those Ashvaaryan Queens found themselves able to manipulate the genetics of their offspring to a far greater degree than the Queen Mothers.   The resulting fourth generation of Queens, though still hexapedal, can carry themselves at speeds up to 5km/h for several minutes, or at a more leisurely rate for almost an hour. They have some limited upper body mobility due to their smaller and more manageable cranial sacks.

Facial Features

Fourth generation Queens were bred with facial morphology adapted to be similar to modern workers and drones, i.e. as an attempted approximation of human features. Within the generally human like shapes and proportions of Tr*!ee's face are the tiny independent mouth parts aligned and grouped to vaguely resemble lips, the series of overlapping producing skin flaps pretending to be a nose, and the four sets of tiny black eyes grouped together and deep set under the articulated chitinous ridges pretending to be eyebrows.

Apparel & Accessories

Like all skla'vin Queens, Tr*!ee is moderately obsessed with decorative accessories of all kinds. While some of her sisters, cousins, and aunts are preoccupied with fabrics, particular metals, or particular shapes or material combinations, she is preoccupied by accessories that mimic or represent natural features discovered by her explorer princes. It may be a pendant made to replicate a unique leaf made from copper and silk, or a headpiece designed to mimic the coast line of an island in wood and sandstone.

Mental characteristics

Personal history

Tr*!ee was born into a tumultuous and unconventional generation, at least by skla'vin standards. Of her sisters and cousins, she was perhaps the least dramatic or frequently discussed, and her existence was perhaps utterly unknown to the humans. She was also however, perhaps the most frustrated and likely to be confrontational. Tr*!ee was nothing compared to the literally short lived Queen of War, but had a significant impact on her fellow S*la'vn, her mother, and the whole of S*lah Dr'!esah.   After being an unusually restless and absent minded youth, the Queen of exploration very quickly began to experiment with what was called her "wanderlust". This desire to travel and see as much of the world as she could was dramatically hampered by her own physicality. While her generation had been bred with dramatically smaller reproductive abdomens and brain-sacks reduced to an absolute bear minimum, they were still huge, ungainly creatures. No Queen could travel quickly or far. Her first generation of workers was a small one, as was expected with her reduced size, but she dedicated her first offspring entirely towards designing and building her some way of moving about more easily. Taking lead from their human friends, a prince designed and her workers built, a sort of cart that doubled as a comfortable lounging seat. This gave her some mobility, but it never seemed enough.   After some years and further generations of workers and carts, Tr*!ee finally put together enough resources and a good enough cart, and took her first journey outside her hive, and in fact outside her people's usual domain. After months in the wilderness, exploring east and south along the shores of the southern sea for weeks, she was almost killed. Considering her unprecedented actions, and their near deadly consequences, Tr*!ee's mother forbade her from leaving her hive ever again.   After some years of growing frustration, it was reading a human book about their ancient Rangers, that a solution to her problems dawned on Tr*!ee. She almost immediately bred a small generation of princes. She gave them as much autonomy, problem solving skills, and her own drive to explore as she could without risking them going insane. A couple of years later, when they were all old enough to be self sufficient, she sent them all out to explore for her. They were only sent out to close, known destination at first, but when they all returned from they told Tr*!ee the stories of everything they had seen. It did not fully quell the constant driving need to travel herself, but it soothed it.   With further generation, she worked on giving her princes better and better memories, observations skills, and communication skills. Then it occurred to her to enhance their drawing and creativity, and that generation returned with drawings and paintings of the things they had seen. She sent her princes further and further in almost every direction. Many did not return, falling prey to whatever wilderness they had discovered, but those that did came with incredible stories and experiences.   After a century of experimentation and refinement, the explorers of the Queen of exploration had been as far as the Middle Sea, the Glacial Wastes, and the far eastern coast of continental Ashvaarya.

Accomplishments & Achievements

Despite the frustrations and tumult of her early life, Tr*!ee's later accomplishments are many and varied.   Despite the human Council and even the Queen Mother content with the assumption that the lashaan are indeed utterly gone, Tr*!ee sent her explorer princes in search of remnants of them. After years of searching the far north and east of Continental Ashvaarya, she found nothing, but the incredible thoroughness of her confirmation was worthy of merit.   Her explorers also made contact with another, previously unknown sentient race far to the north east, discovered the remnants of another that seemed to have died out or disappeared completely, and mapped and charted almost the entire southern and eastern coast of Continental Ashvaarya.

Failures & Embarrassments

Tr*!ee was the only S*la'vn Queen to ever have attempted anything "adventurous", since the Queen Mother herself escaped slavery and came to Ashvaarya. This restless nature led Tr*!ee to venture well outside the safety of the hives, and while exploring the southern wilderness, she nearly died. Returning home safely, she was more frustrated and excited than anything else, but her mother and aunts were utterly scandalized and shocked by the whole series of events. Despite the fact that her escapades resulted in her being forbidden to leave the hives ever again, Tr*!ee considers her adventure the highlight of her life. It is only the Queens around her that consider the exploratory journey an emgbarrassing failure.

Mental Trauma

Unfortunately, for a S*la'vn genetically programmed for exploration and adventure, being permanently trapped in her home hive is something of a constant trauma. This limitation, constantly grating against her genetic nature, created a constantly escalating frustration and irritability. After having been stuck in her home for several years, Tr*!ee would be described by one of her cousins as "the only cranky S*la'vn".
