The 7th of Refrum, 1390 of the Storm Era, At the feet of the mountains east of Eastreach
Ghesh suggests they bury the bodies properly. Bronn says they don’t have time to do all of that. Ghesh suggests they close the mouth of the cave. Bronn orders the troops to bring the bodies from the other cave. Ghesh says a prayer, and everyone bars the entrance of the cave with large rocks. They manage to seal the entrance of the cave enough to prevent access.
Bronn and the group head out to the east and go to Eltryth. The group proceeds in silence considering the somber tone. Dink speaks with Ghesh about the elementals they faced. They talk about how the storms were stronger.
As the group approached the city of Elrtyh it was late evening and they found that it was on high alert. A guard called out wanting to know who they were Bronn replied that they came to offer aid to the people of Elfalas by the order of Empress Taliah. At first the elves weren’t going to let them in until they recognized Galad, they referred to him as Prince Galad and they were immediately allowed access.
They were ushered into the fortress and they wound their way into the heart of the city. They pass by the Eldertree where Ghesh asks Galad some questions about the Eldertree and the Elven culture. Galad wasn’t sure how the meeting with the king would go. Ghesh asks for the location of the Fire Temple citing that it was in a volcano.
Galad said the only volcano in Elfalas is the mountain of Calenúr. They meet with King Galathil and they speak about the return of Galad and the threats against them at this time: Velryn, The Grand Artificer etc.. The King requests help from the party. The king dismisses the party and invites Galad to join him in a private room.
The party exits to a private home set aside for them to rest. They go and rest and eat. Vex eats and then begins to leave. Milo stands and asks him what is going on, Vex takes off running. Ghesh and Milo follow him, Dink picks up his bowl of food and follows them. Moloch comes around the corner and Vex almost runs into him.
The group wants to know why Vex was running away. Vex said he needed a breath of fresh air. Moloch takes Vex to the courtyard to “Train”, Ghesh goes with him. Milo and Dink return to the table to eat.
Ghesh and Vex wrestle around, Ghesh dominates him. Afterwards Vex and Moloch wrestle around and Moloch dominates Vex as well. Afterwards Vex is exhausted but he has grit and stands up and continues to fight back. Moloch pushes his fingertip to Vex’s forehead and forces him to the ground and holds him there. Moloch attempts to talk some sense into Vex. Vex attempts to stand but falls back on his butt since he is sore and worn out. Moloch helps him up.
Meanwhile Milo finishes eating and he goes to look for Vex. While he is out he runs into Vex, Moloch and Ghesh. Milo says that he saw the Icarian soldiers bringing wounded back into the city and he was going to check it out.
Elara Swiftblade, one of Milo’s old friends was among the wounded and she tells Milo that she was glad to see him again. She tells him that they were fighting back against the undead and they were overwhelmed, but she heard that Velryn was looking for some ancient artifact that would spell doom for Elfalas if he found it.
Ghesh and Dink arrive and immediately begin healing people. As they are healing people, they are speaking about what happened. They speak about what they will do next. They decide to retire for the evening. Dink, Milo and Vex go to sleep, Vex is snoring loudly. Moloch finishes his nightly training and he goes to Ghesh who is admiring the Eldertree. Moloch and Ghesh speak about the “artifact” and what it is doing here. They decide to ask the King where the Fire Rue Stone is. They believe its in the volcano mountain Galad had spoke about. Moloch retires for the evening.
After a little while Galad left the palace and saw Ghesh. Ghesh told him about the plans and Galad suggested they go meet with the Loremaster. The Loremaster tells them that there is a power underneath the Eldertree. Afterwards Galad and Ghesh retire for the evening.
In the middle of the night there is a call to arms! The walls are under attack by massive undead forces. The party joins the soldiers at the wall and begin to fight back. Milo casts Tidal Wave and takes out 6 undead. Dink uses his musket and takes out 7, Galad shoots with his bow taking out 4.
Suddenly they appear inside the walls and swarm all around. Vex hears a cry in the distance that screams out, “They are going for the Eldertree!” the party immediately runs toward the Eldertree.
Ghesh uses Turn Undead and forces most of the undead away. Several remain at the entrance having killed the guards. There have been many undead that have made it into the catacombs beneath the Eldertree.
The Battle of the Eldertree
- Ghesh rushes forward and attacks the Wight twice, dealing 33 damage.
- The wight uses life drain and deals 7 damage. Ghesh manages to succeed on his constitution saving throw.
- The skeletons surround Ghesh and begin to attack, they manage to hit him twice, one of them critically. Ghesh takes a total of 16 damage.
- Vex rushes forward and attacks the skeletons engaging Ghesh dealing a total of 24 damage.
- Moloch advances on one of the skeletons and attacks twice with a bonus hit dealing 11 damage.
- Dink moves to an advantageous position and takes 2 shots at the wight hitting it once dealing 10 damage.
- Kobo rushes forwards and attempts to attack but misses.
- Galad rushes forward and attacks twice, dealing 18 damage destroying the skeleton.
- Milo casts Scorching Ray against each of the remaining skeletons dealing 7 damage and 8 damage. The final ray hits the wight and deals 8 damage killing it.
- Ghesh attacks skeleton 2 critically and another non critical hit. Dealing a total of 17 damage.
- The last remaining skeleton rushes toward Vex and attacks but Vex manages to dodge out of the way.
- Vex counterattacks the skeleton dealing 19 damage.
The party, having defeated the undead outside the catacombs, rushes headlong into the dark.
