Journal - Session 19 - Shan Kopan is the Earth Temple of Ava?!

General Summary

The 24nd of Serrum, 1390 of the Storm Era, The Neverlight Monastery   After the battle, everyone goes to see that Grandmaster Urum has passed away. There is a brief emotional moment with prayer and meditation and some monks come out and take away the body of Urum. Ghesh and Galad begin to clean, but when Ghesh sees that the prisoner is unbound and binds him with ropes, he notices that the prisoner doesn’t fight back.
Master Milean visits with Moloch about Voyd. Moloch is losing faith and she reassures him in his path. They talk about funeral arrangements for Urum. The monks begin a fast day. The party is hungry and takes notice of no food. Vex goes upstairs to eat.   The party goes to visit with the prisoner. He tells them; Lord Voyd found Shan Kopan and now has the Shengshou so he can open the entrance to the temple. He is of a new order of monks under Lord Voyd that call themselves The Order. They serve a new master who is “not of this world” and, “who dwells beyond”. Their new master promises to bring order to an evil and corrupt world and seeks to stop the storms that Ava began so long ago that have caused such pain and misery.   He does not know the name of the new master other than Voyd calls him their Master. He opened Voyd’s mind to the newfound powers of the elements to help them in their cause. (This is why they follow him). Most importantly he knows the location of Shan Kopan, he will give them directions.   Directions are: Head west through the mountains past the Netherlight Spire for 3 days, they will find a mountain ‘split in two’ and in between the two peaks there is a valley. At the base of the valley they will find the ruins of Shan Kopan.   The party discusses how to proceed, should they go now? Or should they stay for the funeral of Grandmaster Urum. As they discuss, Moloch says “Everything I have known and loved has been ripped away from me in a day.” With that he turns and leaves. He meets with Kenji and the two discuss about the goings on of late (The Grand Artificer, Voyd, etc..) Kenji agrees to go with them.
Moloch goes to the Garden of Remembrance and meets with Master Milean who is meditating at the monument to Master Alistar. They speak on Moloch’s purpose, Milean encourages Moloch to go. Moloch decides to go. The party heads out and walks until nightfall, the party camps and rests.   The 25nd of Serrum, 1390 of the Storm Era, In the Wilderness East of The Neverlight Monastery.   The next morning, everyone awakes and prepares for the day. The party discusses loss and Moloch apologizes to the group for his recent behavior. As they travel, Dink and Ghesh discuss some of Dink’s doubts about Ava that the prisoner helped to plant into Dink’s mind. Ghesh thinks about what he says and reads. Ghesh encourages Dink with his knowledge of scripture. The party travels until nightfall and then makes camp.
The 1st of Refrum, 1390 of the Storm Era, In the Wilderness East of The Neverlight Monastery.   The next morning, everyone awakes and prepares for the day. The party travels throughout the day and at midday in the distance they see the split mountain that the prisoner had mentioned. The party travels until nightfall and then makes camp.
The 2nd of Refrum, 1390 of the Storm Era, In the Wilderness East of The Neverlight Monastery.   The next morning, everyone awakes and prepares for the day. The party finds the ruins of an ancient structure. They find a large stone room with ancient wooden beds.
Many of the beds have the skeletonized corpses of people laying in them. They find next to many of the bodies, vials of different looking herbs and medicines and other kinds of ancient medical equipment. Their decaying attire looks like an ancient version of the clothing that the Monks of the Neverlight Brotherhood wear. They also take note of some jewelry on the bodies of the people that bear the symbols of Ava.   The party finds an ancient library with books on either side of a great hallway. There are cobwebs covering the books. By looking at the state of these foregone tomes they believe that they are quite fragile.
While searching through these ancient books they find a book on the history of Shan Kopan. They find out Shan Kopan is not the name of the temple. It is actually called the Earth Temple of Ava. There is a list of names of priests who ran the temple. The final entry’s name is “Shan Kopan” The Earth Temple of Ava is the resting place of the Earth Rue Stone, the stone that holds the bound elemental power of Ava. From the holy books of Ava: “There was a stone that harnessed the power of her firm adamant stone-like will, it was as strong as the foundations of the land. - The Stones of Ava Chapter 12 vs. 14b”   They also find a book on Rue Stones. The Rue Stones are kept in 4 separate temples of Ava. One for each element. There are priests that protect and tend to the stones. The stones hold the power of Ava, each one corresponding to a different element. Together they have the power to summon the Calm. The Calm is a summoned wall of Ava’s Elemental power. It protects the people of Ashrea from the evil destroyer that Nyxus summoned. It takes the form of a great tempest that surrounds the land and keeps the evil of Nyxus at bay.   They also find a book on the Temples of Ava. They find out that there are 4 Temples of Ava, each of them having their own elemental power. These Temples of Ava each work together with the Rue Stones within to summon the Calm. They learn of the locations of each temple. The Earth temple to the north in the Neverlight Mountain Range underground. The Water Temple to the west in the elven realm of Athenduil in a mountain lake. The Air Temple to the south near the Kamrost Spire floating in the air. Lastly the Fire Temple to the East in a volcano in the elven realm Elfalas. The Temples of Ava are protected by her elemental power. The Temples of Ava were kept by the Priests of Ava.   They also find a book on The Castle in the Sky. There is a Castle in the Sky somewhere in Ashrea. Hidden within the Castle in the Sky is a 5th stone of Ava’s power. Ava created the stones here and it is a focal point of her power.
The party finds a massive stone door with a carving of an angelic figure and 4 mysterious orbs surrounding it. The stone door has been recently destroyed and its rubble is lying all around. There is a staircase that goes down into the mountain where the stone door once stood. The party goes in and sees three murals carved into the wall on the far side. The first one is of an angelic being surrounded by four orbs. The second mural is of a demonic being with an army marching with him. The third mural is of a castle in the sky that is painted onto the wall.   The party sees that to the right the way is blocked by a stone door. The left is opened and they enter that way. In the far end of the room is a stone altar with a round stone sphere on it. Ghesh examines it and touches it but doesn't pick it up. Dink comes over and examines it, and picks it up. Suddenly the stone doors slam shut and the party is trapped. Some of them hear a rumbling coming from the walls and two earth elementals emerge from the walls and attack!
