The Kingdom of Torria

Written by Anonymous User
Description: The land has a very small population due to recent battles. The wildlife is growing rapidly back to strength but also suffered greatly to recent battles. The peoples that do live in Torria are toughened from hard work and defending their newly conquered country. The land richly produced farm goods but has recently been found abundant in valuable metals.

History

“The farmlands and fields of Torria were burned and destroyed countless years ago when “The End” occured. It was a peaceful country of fields of pasture land for farmers and wildlife. Torrians never expected to be attacked. The first attacks devastated much of Torria before enough of an army was acquired to push the attacks back. These Attacks were led by an evil warlord by the name of Salos. Over the next hundred years the Torrians and Salos’s forces fought over Torria.   “The End” was foretold to come but nobody thought that it would occur as the result of mortal armies fighting over mortal things. The tides of the war were turned against Torria when Salos struck a deal with an ancient foe, Pale. It was the last stand for the Torrians. Salos’s forces outnumbered the Torrian’s 10 to 1. During the battle Pale changed the magnetism that concluded the defeat of Torria. All was lost. Torria was lost.   Fairy Tales may tell stories of rebel groups hiding out of the reach of evil, a safe place and a hope to overthrow the powerful, evil oppressors. This was not the reality for Torria. The defeat of Torria was marked in history as “The End” because every Torrian was sought out and killed. All torrian prisoners were killed. Due to the change in magnetism, the topography of Torria changed much, and impassable mountain ranges appeared, isolating Torria from the rest of the world. Salos destroyed all of the reachable land until it was turned to dust.   The next age is referred to as “The Scourge”. Very few know how long it actually lasted because nobody recorded this time period and the arts were utterly forgotten.   During “The Scourge” the armies of soldiers had nothing to do and the generals had nothing to tell them to do after all of the reachable world had been burned. These soldiers and commanders made makeshift lives for themselves and plundered, robbed, and killed each other. “The Scourge marks the time from “The End” to “Redemption”.   The redemption was also prophesied, although nobody that prophesied it or heard of the prophecy ever lived to see the “Redemption”. During the fight against Torria and the time of “The Scourge” Salos developed and constructed a fortified government around himself to prepare for any foreign attacks attacks or anyone that wanted to overthrow him. He assigned eight positions to trusted friends to protect him and to defeat any generals that became too powerful during the scourge and might want to challenge Salos. His best layer of defence was the fourteen elite assassins created by Salos to do anything he asked and protect him from anyone against him. I am one of these fourteen. From the vile evil that Salos wrought on Torria, light came from the darkness. We assassins saw the worst of the evil inflicted on Torria and were the only ones to start to see that it was unjust and cruel. Our views started to change when we helped in the fall of Torria. It took the long decades of the scourge to undo our evil, twisted hearts and minds that Salos had created. It was the cruelty that showed us our wrong, the darkness that created light. We fourteen decided to listen to our conscience separately but caim together and plotted to tear down Salos’s dominion over Torria as one.   We decided to redeem ourselves from the evil deeds we had committed. It happened quickly. We started by getting rid of Salos’s eight officials, then we closed in on Salos and gifted the land with his death. The next years were spent seeking out and killing any powerful resistance to us. The rest of the residence of the now barren and smoldering Torria were bid to flee the country if they valued their lives. We couldn’t change these people, but we could sure the salvation of the next generation. Peoples came from surrounding countries through passageways in the mountains and started new towns in Torria. The new Torrians now plant fields of grasses and trees in hopes to restore Torria to its former state. I now, with thirteen others, protect and raise this next generation until they are capable of holding their own.   I write this to teach the new Torria of its past that it may learn from from their past to prepare for their future. I, Tovian Argentum, write this not only to prevent evil to rise again, but to remind Torrians to trust that evil will see its end before honorable principals are extinguished. I have seen the worst and inflicted pain onto this land, and I lived through it to redeem myself by starting a new civilisation.”   ~ Tovian Argentum

Territories

Size: Moderate   Terrain: A long lake running through a land scattered with deadly mountain ranges. Connected large valleys run in between the mountains. The mountains are nearly unsurpassable, but the valleys are normally covered in fields of grasses and forests.   Climate: Mountains will kill all but a few species of wildlife due to the cold. The valleys are normally pleasant and host much life but the temperature drops dramatically in Winter.
