The Kingdom of Kelindor

Written by Eragon
Size: Small   Terrain: Mostly large mountains, the rest of it is foothills. Massive Ironbark trees (similar to redwoods) dominate the foothills and also can be found in the mountains wherever they can gain purchase. The mountains are riddled with caves.   Climate: Temperate, but the shade of the mountains causes the lowlands to see little more than six hours of sun in a day.   Peoples: Dwarves and Humans split half and half. There are very few other races but they are there small in numbers.   Description: Cities are found both above and below ground, some even built half above and half below. The capitol, Tronjund Korda, goes down to unfathomable depths, not all of it populated. (similar to the Mines of Moria in its prime). Goblins live in the lowest level. Justice and honor are both very important to the kingdom. They will never attack another kingdom to conquer or pillage but only in self-defense. Criminal rates are very low because of the importance the kingdom places on justice. However, there would be next to none if there wasn’t so much trade within the kingdom. Due mainly to its geographical location on the map, Kelindor has been a hub for trade for many years. Its markets are known for their order and peace (in comparison to normal markets). Mining is a central part of the community due to the mountain’s rich veins of Antantium and Black Argite ore. Kelindor trades these highly valuable ores along with the many other ores they mine from the mountains. Antantium ore is fairly rare and only found in the deepest parts of the earth. Originally discovered in the year 1572 by silver miners, it soon became apparent that it is even stronger than the best alloys. The Kelindor blacksmiths have utilized its strength to create Delmineon Steel.     Underground Caverns: A unique geological phenomenon can be found in the southernmost caverns of Kelindor. Magnificent pools of floating water are occasionally found in some of the deeper caverns. As the surface water filters down through the rock from above, some of it bonds with the Black Argite that it passes through and effectively makes the water magnetically charged. Deep exploration teams happened upon some of these pools as the tunnel they were traveling through opened up into a bigger room. Looking up they saw to their amazement a ceiling made of water. The liquid ceiling rippled with the movement of the air as the explorers entered and the light from their torches flickered and danced all around the room as it reflected off the water. These incredible floating pools were named “The Forgotten Pools of Elyon” by those that found them. Tales were told that these pools are a remnant of a time when Elyon crafted the earth from water. As Elyon called the waters up to Him leaving His handiwork behind, these waters were trapped deep below in the caverns from the beginning of time. As the dwarven miners kept digging deeper and deeper under Tronjund Korda it became harder and harder to keep order. In 1422 the miners broke into a goblin cave. There was a great war but eventually both sides realized that they could not destroy the opposing kingdom. The rulers of Kelindor realized that they could not destroy every goblin in the caves because there were too many hiding places. The goblins knew that they were outmatched so they shrank back into the deepest caves and sent raiding parties at the miners. To this day the miners are still plagued by the goblins.   Government System: The governmental system of Kelindor has a supreme triumvirate rule with a counsel of 24 elected officials to aid the triumvirate in law making. The smaller regions are split between barons, who directly rule the people.

Kelindor Military

The following discribes Kelindor's cavalry, footmen, and archers respectively.   The cavalry are soldiers atop a trained "Nagra". The Nagra are boars that are the size of grizzly bears. The Nagra live in the foothills of Kelindor's mountains. The city of Nagrist is devoted to training the Nagra for war.
The footman fight in the Roman Phalanx formation. While the archers decimate their enemies and the Nagra riders annihilate the enemy backline the phalanx is designed to hold a position. Often a chokepoint in between mountains etc. They do wreak havoc on simple swordsmen that attack them though. Their spears are eight feet long and soldiers are trained to handle such a weapon.   (They would wield tower shields and rest the spear against it as opposed to having a small circular shield like the picture.)
The majority of the archers are nothing unusual. They send wave after wave into the enemy lines. But there is an elite group of longbowmen trained to take out individual targets. The commanders will be targeted first then they will slowly work their way down until they simply shoot at the other archers. A shield bearer will be in front of each archer protecting him from return fire.   (Does not show a shield wall)
(The Nagra riders are the stronger part of the Kelindorian army. The focus is on them and more of them are trained.)
