The Kingdom of Heuntsia

Written by TheFluffyRabbitofGondor
Name Pronunciation: HOINT-see-uh. Description: A mostly Germanic society with bits of Scottish flare. Peoples: Heunt (German/Celtic, Human). Heavy on the mustache. Flowing, curly, brown, black, blonde or RED hair (Take that, Glandoria!). There are some very tall people in Heuntsia.

Culture

Strangely, despite its aggressive and harsh appearance, Heuntsia is a society driven by peace. A love of nature, domestic interests, good food (especially sausages), agriculture and business permeate the culture of Heuntsia. The reasons Heuntsians can be so savage and war-like is because of their mother-bear-like defensiveness of their cozy, orderly villages in which they live out their simple lives. Heuntsia is a country driven by the color Maroon, due largely in part to the excess of a particular nightshade vegetable, the cabbage. Their clothes, being dyed in a red variety of said cabbage along with salt, are worn in the military, royal and domestic circles. Cabbage is also used in culinary fashions, especially along with the aforementioned sausages that almost dominant the entire lives of these people. Houses are built to mimic the vivid colors of tropical birds and the ornate shapes which do not commonly exist in nature: pentagonal and hexagonal pagodas, half-timbered ziggurats of barns, and cathedral-cottages with very long hypotenuses. The edges of the lands of Heuntsia and Glandoria have been reserved for a special purpose. Since the peace treaty in 1500, the two countries have never been able to completely free themselves of basic national animosity. The treaties, however, being of such a nature which could not be broken without the cataclysmic results of a World-War due to increase in allies, have remained intact. So to get out there aggression, the Heunts and Glandorians have established cities along their borders for The Games. The cities are stocked constantly with worthless items and men are paid to guard them while living there. The two countries, on holidays, send their armies with blunted weapons and heavy armor, to raid each other’s cities, in commemoration of that glorious established so long ago.

History

History: Long ago, before the war with Pale, the realms which now constitute Heuntsia, Baleror, MiddleMarch, Ina Tathen, and the Northern Tundra’s, once were part of an older Kingdom by the name of Aelyssar. It was a good nation, full of many exotic races living together in harmony and justice, under the laws of Elyon, the Creator. After the War with Pale, the people disintegrated into the various tribes which they originally came from at the beginning of time, and have never been quite united since. Heuntsia has fought on and off down through the years, with Glandoria in particular. That was up until 200 years ago, in circa 1500, when a truce was made after a devastating war.

Territories

Size: Large, spanning 200 miles wide and 300 miles tall. Terrain: Varied, many very large forests of chestnut, oak, spruce, maple, poplar, fir, pine, and cedar. Some low mountains, including the Tennerhau [TEN-er-how] Range. Climate: Temperate.   Cities: From west to east:   In the north are Tot [Tote], Henntheim [HENT-hime], Vislandin and Okerbauen [O-ker-bauw-in].   In the Center are the cities of Brumfast, Begen, Tätsen [TATE-sen], Pleuten [PLOY-tin] and Gorkun [Gor-KOON].   The South holds Dleimerhau [D LIE-mer-how], Oigrim (THE CAPITAL), Eskinhaftlaw [Esk-in-HAFT-lauw], Möp [Merp without the r], Dor, Tinkyell [TINK-yil] and Agmit.

Agriculture & Industry

Heuntsia, lately, has experienced a decrease in income among the lower classes and an increase in the upper. Those upper benefit from a good 50% of the lands best. This includes great herds of goats and beef, forest-timber, mines for copper, tin, silver and gold, and grain mills operated mostly by wind. Very little export takes place in Heuntsia, as the borders are mostly locked and guarded, especially in the south near all the dastardly pirates. Little technological development has occurred in Heuntsia compared to other countries; it remains a “second world” land. However, the people and leadership of Heuntsia are very aggressive in finding new ways to produce income.
