Kingdom of Glandoria

Written by the FluffyRabbitofGondor
Name Pronunciation: Glan-DOR-ee-uh.   Description: A Latin-Celtic Society.

Culture

Glandorians: Pale or tan skin, short hair of brown, black or blonde (never red), men occasionally wearing beards. Mustaches have been forbidden from time to time because of their prevalence in Heuntsia, Glandoria’s old enemy. But at present, a small, well-combed mustache is acceptable.   Except in remote, poverty-stricken villages and cut-off settlments, 95% of the middle and upper classes are fond of silks, furs, plaids, kilts and togas. They are a prim people, yet with no fear of violence. They are extremely patriotic, though not to Emperors, but to the Empire. Politics and battle-games are their continued fascination, both of which activities they believe will draw them closer to their “deity”, the god Brucias. Seriousness is their greatest god. Despite their outward peacefulness to other countries these last 200 years, they are eager to acquire new lands for the glory of Glandoria.

History

Glandoria is not an old land; it is an ancient empire. Long ago, before the war with Pale, the realms which now constitute Baleror, Heuntsia, MiddleMarch, Ina Tathen, and the Northern Tundra’s, once were part of an older Kingdom by the name of Aelyssar. It was a good nation, full of many exotic races living together in harmony and justice, under the laws of Elyon, the Creator. After the War with Pale, the people disintegrated into the various tribes which they originally came from at the beginning of time, and have never been quite united since. 200 years ago, in circa 1500, Glandoria fought its last war to reunite the other countries of Aelyssar, but failed, bringing only much death and devastation. As a result, MiddleMarch was set aside as a neutral zone.

Territories

Size: Large, spanning over 400 miles wide. Terrain: Varied, mostly treeless plains with occasional small forests of chestnut, oak, spruce, fir, pine, and cedar. Treeless hills and moorland lie in the west especially (Section 4), the large lake—Elax—supplies fish, and the Great River Pan flows into it, turning south and becoming the River   Climate: Temperate in the south with very snowy winters in the north.   Cities: Glandoria has had several capitals throughout history. The Emperor currently conducts business from the Island within the mighty lake Elax. There he lives in the Yellow Palace, Glandorian Oigrim or “Oig”, named to copy their old enemies, the Heunts in Heuntsia. The other great capitals include Dwllneptum [Dole-NEP-toom], Hevest and Brytonum. From west to east, the greater cities are Bbest [Vest], Dipttan [DIP-than], Physt (a forgotten people lived there on the edge of “The Wilderness (Section 5)” and disappeared long ago), Mt. Ddenum [THEN-um], Fascinudd [FAS-shin-noo-the], Gurg, Conum, Hevest, Oigrim, Brytonum, Dwllneptum, Naecar, Powlen, Vista [VISH-ta], Wels [Welsh], Beaumin [Bay-OU-min], Biranam, Hegor and Castanotrum on the Sea.

Agriculture & Industry

Glandoria survives and thrives on crops of wheat, barley, oats, flax, spelt, chestnuts, the spinning of woolen clothes, and the rearing and selling of horses. They have acquired so much metal ore through hundreds of conquests in surrounding nations that they have no need of mining. This is due in part to their secret of a rust-stopping chemical.
