"Mort D'Ange" | Ananias, Maki, Kil'Kenny, Simab
It is pitch black outside. Water laps against the sides of a majestic vessel moored in "Clara's Strait Ring" in the Swampwoods of Pura.
The vessel is crowed with men, most of them wearing worn out, once elegant finery. Someone is playing a viola and cello aboard deck as men play cards.
Several young guardsman stalk the deck, looking for signs of movement in the water. They know their cargo is valuable and there are those who might be eager to sabotage their efforts.
The whole deck is lighted bright in an attempt to get as much visibility as possible.
Suddenly, a great explosion goes off near the shore.
The music stops, all the men hurry to the deck and get their weapons, Captian Viola at the head.
They don't notice as small ripples appear just beneath the waves.
Another explosion goes off, and fire lingers. Xkoll is visible on the shore with Raevyn at his side. The archer has lit arrows strung on his bow.
"It's the Black Snake!" some of the pirates hiss.
The Viridian begins to challenge them—the crew run to man their guns. Canon fire begins to resound over the bay.
Meanwhile, a rat surfaces just beneath the ship. Maki holds on tight to his back. He carefully makes his way inside. Maki turns invisible and he goes into stealth.
They make their way towards their target-- a valuable prisoner being held hostage.
But another rescuer has already beat them to it.
Kil'Kenny: Busts open the lock on the ship's hold carefully, several men are unconscious behind him.
He opens it and sees prisoner down below.
The captive, a young man is gagged and chained to the galley. His eyes are huge when he sees Kil'Kenny.
Kil'Kenny: Smirks. "All right, no sudden moves, I'm a friend."
Begins to approach him.

Commando Chipmunk10/29/2019 Kil'Kenny cocks his gun, freezing. Narrows his eyes. "Hmm, an extra guard?" Kil' Kenny begins to decend into the hold. "Should have known it'd be too easy..."

Commando Chipmunk10/29/2019 Kil'Kenny spins around, trying to block blow, but falls head first instead. Is knocked out cold. Footsteps creak up above and a hint of firelight casts from the hold opening. Maki's voice muttering. "I think Kil’Kenny got here first, this is way too easy. Or it's a trap."

Commando Chipmunk10/29/2019 Harsh hiss from Simab. The rat jumps straight down into the hold and lands on his feet with barely a sound. Maki slips/falls down after him with a SMASH. Simab yanks her up and goes straight to prisoner. Prisoner: Trying to signal with eyes that something is wrong. Maki: “Atleast he's still here!” Simab: Eyebrows lower, spins around pulling out knives. Looks around at the shadows, studying them.

Commando Chipmunk10/29/2019 Simab: Sees Kil’Kenny's body. “Maki, move him out now.” Maki: Busy cutting the prisoner loose, “Of course I am.” Simab: Throwing knives at the ready. “And...put up a shield.” Maki: Turns to look at him like, How can I untie him and put up a shield at the same time?

Commando Chipmunk10/29/2019 Maki: Gasps and throws up shield, but just over her, not Simab. Simab ducks just in time, charges the shadow with all his might. Knives in hands.

Commando Chipmunk10/29/2019 Simab: Yowls in pain, kicks towards face, twists in release manuever. Maki: Eyes flash. >:{ Drops shield and hurls fire up from her hands in warning, illuminating the ship's hold. Simab: Can see the man's face, still trying to break free, punches into his gut.

Commando Chipmunk10/29/2019 Maki: Hurls fireballs at him, her eyes wide. Simab: Gasping for air, can feel swelling in his neck, rolls back and hurls knives at him.
ThatGuyOverThere10/29/2019 Mort D'Ange dodges the fireballs and grabs a scrap piece of wood to block the knives. Throws an ice spike back at Simab.
Commando Chipmunk10/29/2019 Simab: Rolls out of the way, ice spike shatters, races at him again with new knives, tail swinging. Maki: Staggers back. Prisoner: Eyes wide in horror. Simab: “No,Maki!” Shoots out trip wire grappling hook thingy from his pocket and nails it on Ananias' wrist. Maki: Puts up shield, then begins racing back to Simab to get him cover, leaving the prisoner.

Commando Chipmunk10/29/2019 Simab: Lets wire yank him, but uses momentum to whip across the hold wall and dash in front of prisoner (and away from Maki), cause he has a bad hunch. Hurls last throwing knife at Ananias' heart. Bleeding down back, fur matted.

The human youth has been trying to finish the job Maki started and untie his hands. He breaks free, pulls down gag and tries to run. Maki: Racing back to Simab with all her might. “LEAVE HIM ALONE!!”

Commando Chipmunk10/29/2019 Maki: Snarls, hits wall. Tries to regain balance as fast as she can. Hurls fire at him, but aim is off. Simab sags, then does a pressure point twist on Ananias’ arm. The prisoner falls to his face, spike embedded deep in his back.

Commando Chipmunk10/29/2019 Simab: Struck. Slides over to deck floor, unconscious. Maki: Getting exhausted. “SIMAB!” Shouts at Ananias. “GO AWAY!” Little rage explosion. Explosion shakes entire ship. Travels along main frame, cracking sound, everything on fire. Maki: Dashes to Simab.
ThatGuyOverThere10/29/2019 Mort D'Ange tries to go after Maki, but rage explosion knocks him back and he hits a wall. When he recovers he looks up with shocked and confused expression. "What happened? Where am I?" He asks. Sees Maki. "Who are you?"
Commando Chipmunk10/29/2019 Maki: Running towards him, ready to blast him again when water starts to seep in, extinguishing the explosion flames and causing smoke. Still trying to find him to blast him again. Simab: Mumbles. “Ma—maki....” She freezes, panting hard, realizing what's going on.

Commando Chipmunk10/29/2019 Maki: Begins trying to pick up Simab, hears Ananias’ voice. Turns around and makes a face in surprise. Face turns to scowl. Begins trying to pull Simab to safety as fast as she can, checks prisoner on her way out and see's he's dead.

Commando Chipmunk10/29/2019 Maki: Forces herself to ignore him, thinking it's a trap. Leaves the hold, using Strength ability to carry Simab. Kil'Kenny: Splutters, coughing on water. Just barely hears voice, green eyes flash. Sits up, moaning and holding head. Staggers over and almost trips on dead prisoner. Checks him, winces, then keeps moving towards the voice.

Notices the explosion marks. They'll be coming down for us soon enough to patch this up. We better hurry.

Maki: Further up ahead, strength is waning, gets better grasp on Simab, hides back in corner as they pass. Can see Ananias passing. O-O Tempted to throw something at him again, but doesn't because thinks it'd be better to stay hidden.
ThatGuyOverThere10/29/2019 Stops for a moment to look around. He doesn't spy Maki. He puts a hand to his head and for a very brief moment seems confused again. He utters a name that barely reaches Maki's ears. "Barney." Mort D’Ange shakes his head, his face cold again and continues his search.
Commando Chipmunk10/29/2019 Maki: Makes a face, the name imprinting on her mind as significant. As soon as he passes, she breaks free, taking Simab with her. Dashes to the nearest opening and jumps through a canon portal into the ocean. Pirates still coming down fast.
ThatGuyOverThere10/29/2019 Hears the commotion of someone running behind him and turns around. He sees Maki just as she jumps into the portal. Realizing there's nothing more to be done here and with his target eliminated, Mort D’Ange slips back into the shadows.
