Rhadell
"Cowards, the lot of them! Our world was burning, and they kept all they had that could have saved thousands behind those high and mighty walls. Off to the fey lands they went to hide, doing gods knew what as we rebuilt, only to return and ruin the balance of nature and open the gate for the monsters to follow after. Thieves and cowards all, I say..."
Lorien Zeu, 7040 AD
Rhadell is hailed as the oldest standing nation in the Ashirmic continent's history, though that is one of the few things anyone will give them much credit for. While there are no existing records outside of Rhadell on how or who established it and created such a thriving place of invention, the rumors are many and varied between peoples and communities. Most of what is even discussed of Rhadell by outsiders is speculation since there has been almost no communication from them to the outside world in ages, and the rare traveler who leaves there never tells. Almost as if magically bound to keep the secrets within themselves~ When The Great Death came upon the continent, Rhadell as an entire people locked their gates and ran, taking with them all that they could as they left. There were many years that spanned their absence, during which the rest of Ashirma left behind started to rebuild what would eventually become the modern nations. But in time they did return, except that this return caused even more strife. Records indicate that a massive portal was opened in what is now the Volcana Woods that let them filter back onto the continent knowing it was safer...for them. However, the Conjuration magic was unstable, and the portal never properly closed itself, leaving the influence of the wilds to spill out into the surrounding woods and destabilize the barely-recovering natural order from the ordeal of the draconic deaths. It was after this return that Ashirma began to experience their notable year-long seasons, rather than the previous cycle of four within a year. After this, the people of Rhadell took up residence on a large landmass that had broken off of the southwest coast and got to work. Soon enough, they had a city in the air, held aloft by engines that still baffle the modern artificer. And yet there was a single fault they have yet to remedy; they cannot sustain themselves on their own. Thus their chunk of land hovers nearby that they may use the resources of the continent with little to no contact. Much to the distaste of the citizens of Ashirma below.
