You become wreathed in a deceptive shimmer, seemingly disappearing and reappearing in the eyes of others. When you cast this spell, and immediately after you make a melee weapon attack against a creature, you turn Invisible at the same time that an illusory double of you appears where you are standing. The after-image disappears when you become visible or if it is targeted by an attack or spell or forced to make a saving throw. You remain Invisible until the start of your next turn, until you attack or cast a spell, or if a creature uses its action to make an Intelligence (Investigation) check against your spell save DC, and succeeds.
Until the spell ends, whenever you hit a creature with a melee weapon attack, you deal an additional 2d8 Psychic damage to the target.
At Higher Levels. When you cast this spell using a spell slot of 5th level or higher, the extra damage increases by 1d8 for each slot level above 4th. If you use a 7th level spell slot or higher, the duration increases to 1 hour.
