Briar Knight
Briar Knights adopt the branching thicket of the wild as their armor, demonstrating without question that every strike against them will come at a cost
Found mainly in the crags, and the harsh environment of the Dar'Goth marsh, these rangers have begun to emulate the prickly forms of nature around them. Some even go so far to say they borrow the same thorny curse that the hags of the swamp utilize.
Briar Knight Spells
At 3rd level, you learn an additional spell when you reach certain levels in this class, as shown in the Briar Knight Spells table. Each spell counts as a ranger spell for you, but it doesn't count against the number of ranger spells you know.
| Ranger Level | Spell |
|---|---|
| 3rd | Ensnaring Strike |
| 5th | Spike Growth |
| 9th | Vampiric Touch |
| 13th | Grasping Vine |
| 17th | Danse Macabre |
Bramble Armor
Also at 3rd level, Thicket magic infuses your defenses. While you concentrate on a Ranger spell, magical thorns sprout from your form for the spell's duration. When a creature hits you with a melee attack while you are covered in these thorns, the creature takes 2d4 piercing damage. This damage increases to 3d4 when you reach 7th level in this class.
Briar Strike
Additionally at 3rd level, The first time you hit a creature under the effects of your hunters mark, you may attempt to coat them in magical vines. They must make a Wisdom Saving throw vs having their speed halved, and taking 1d4 piercing for every 5ft they move until the start of your next turn.
Overgrowth
Beginning at 7th level, while you are covered in thorns using your Bramble Armor, when you move within 5 feet of a creature or object, you may choose to deal your Bramble Armor damage to the creature or object, as thorned branches lash out at it. A target can take this damage only once a turn.
Agonizing Thorns
At 11th level, Whenever a spell you cast inflicts the Grappled or Restrained conditions on a creature, that creature takes your Bramble Armor damage at the start of each of its turns it remains grappled or restrained. Additionally, Piercing damage dealt by you or spells you cast ignores resistance.
Bramble Bulwark
When you reach 15th level, You may cast Wall of Thorns without expending a spell slot using this feature. When you cast Wall of Thorns in this way, it does not require concentration, and whenever you attempt to move through the wall, you can spend 5 feet of movement to emerge at any other point within 5 feet of the wall. Once you've cast Wall of Thorns using this feature, you cannot do so again until you finish a short or long rest.
